Does Anyone Else Here Collect Guns?

Dude that thing f*cks.

That’s basically my response when someone asks ā€œwhy do you need so many guns?ā€

Each has its purpose. Not like their 97 pairs of shoes.

That is one of those guns I have no use for, but am very intrigued by. Lately the gun selling internet has been flooded with surplus ā€œCheetasā€ but I’d have to lay hands on one to see if it fit me before I could buy one.

I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks man! Hopefully I’ll be able to get to the range this weekend to test it out. It’s definitely a surplus, but got it for a way better price than what’s available on GunBroker.

The trigger is pretty nice. DA is heavy but smooth, not much stacking as it sweeps back. SA is crisp. Broken in for sure haha.

If it cycles JHP reliably I’ll definitely be going for the full Miami Vice motif once in a while this summer. If it was good enough for Shiherlis, it’ll be good enough for me.

Just don’t conceal carry the sawed off double barrel, that one might be problematic.

PSA is sending me 3 JAKLs to run in drills. 2 in 556 and 1 in 300 BLK.

I am excited.

Have already bought optics and accessories for them. They deliver tomorrow.

A beautiful piece of art, however, at 35,000.00 dollars, it is out of my price range:)))

Quality seems very nice at first look / handling.

Will see how they hold up to some rough conditions and actually be run hard.

Do those uppers just pop on to a standard lower?

They do but you’ll need a buffer tube delete kit as these uppers are long stroke piston.

Gotcha. I was curious about these as a slightly less expensive alternative to a BRN180 upper that I had been looking at. Not quite a 1:1 swap though. Enjoy dude!

I did not get to go this year, which sucks.

But, I will be there next year.

Given your gun collection I bet you have a Primary Weapon Systems long-stroke piston AR. I’m curious how those compare.

Also, earlier in the thread you mentioned you bought optics for those. What optics are you buying these days? I have a Trijicon MRO HD and their 3x Magnifier and they came with the absolute co-witness mounts. Any suggestions on how to get the magnifier up to a 1.93" height? Scalarworks has a mount for the MRO but not the Magnifier.

I have a MK116, but I don’t have any trigger time behind the Jakl yet sadly.

Waiting on a few more things to get all 3 complete before I take them out and I’ll be taking my other long stroke piston guns to compare as well.

As far as the magnifier - they make adjustable height mounts and riser plates for them.

I’m not a huge fan of flip over magnifiers personally. I’ve had them break under hard use or the spring mechanism go bad.

I prefer to run a 45 degree offset red dot with some form of LPVO or magnified optic as primary.

I’ll have to look for the riser plates. What’s your thoughts on those? I looked at the one from Scalarworks thinking that you mount a rail to a rail. It almost seems like another point of failure. Are they generally pretty secure?

I have an LPVO and I’ve really struggled with speed in acquisition with it, so I went with the Red Dot Magnifier combo. More recently I went with the 1.93 mount for my LPVO and they may have remedied the speed issue as that has helped. I still want to get the height on the magnifier and red dot up as I’ve really enjoyed that height on my other two.

They have been solid when I have used them. I have never had one come loose and I put my guns through hell. Granted you secure it down properly.

LPVO’s can be difficult for target acquisition. That is why I love 45 degree offset irons or red dot. I can acquire with that and then turn the gun to my LPVO or magnified optic and boom right on target.

45 degree offsets are what most SF guys are running for this type of setup now. If you practice with 45 degree offset irons or red dot, you will see why.

So, nothing really new this year in the shotgun world.

Nothing groundbreaking or novel really that I have seen.
