Are you eating any veggies?
Today I had some carrots, cucumber, and those tomatoes with the breakfast. It’s not much, but yes, I’m having veggies every day - just MUCH less than what I normally do, in the name of getting down the necessities.
Day 3
Deads
195x5
220x5
250 3x5
Bench
135x5
155x5
175 5x5
DB rows
80 3x10 each arm
75 1x10 ea
65 1x10
Curls
50 lb ez bar 10x10
Crunched for time, so the DB rows were just back and forth arm to arm no rest, which is why the weight dropped, and the curls were only dropping the bar for like 10 seconds to shake my hands out. Last couple curls had a teeny bit of body English.
Smashed myself on the assistance work. Every 5’s set was crisp, clean, effective, purposeful. Zero grind but still worked up a sweat, working on form and bracing, explosiveness and control. Just like week 1 of 5/3/1 should be. Downed a 30g protein shake while I cooked 12 eggs and a giant .75lb beef patty to bring to work. I have 8 hours to get those down and then will eat the last bit of beef when I get home circa 930. I tried eating this morning but I just don’t have a big appetite in the AM- so my late night eating keeps me satiated and fueled for the gym, and that’s fine.
All in all, despite the difficulty of eating, my body feels fueled.
I don’t know if eating is a social time for you, but if not, I highly recommend distracting yourself with video media. People accidentally snack themselves to obesity mindlessly eating in front of the TV so I use it as a tool for just that purpose. Especially good if you find a series that you enjoy and ONLY allow yourself to watch while eating.
Just caught up a bit on your log. I’ll be interested to see how BtM goes for you. I’ve been thinking about doing a strength program to mix things up for a bit. I’ll be following along. Now go eat!
I think this is what you call “not fucking it up”. Your work ethic is always awesome.
That’s a GREAT idea, my meals have been, unintentionally, just me sitting quietly at a table, focusing on the food. Not focusing on the food sounds very nice. Appreciate it.
Thanks buddy. My work ethic is there. Sometimes my discipline slips. Gonna try to remedy that here.
Do you mind drinking egg yolks? I’ve never “had” to get a certain amount in every day but sometimes I’d be too lazy to make them so I’d crack them into a cup and gulp them down, a la Rocky style.
What’s the macro breakdown for the nutrition or is it simple 1.5 lbs of beef and 12 eggs and then whatever else you want?
Yup. 1.5 lbs of ground beef and a dozen eggs per day. Jim’s sample format had eggs and bacon and toast, meat sauce with spaghetti, and an egg and beef burrito. It comes out to around 170ish g of protein, and I’ll have a 30g shake after the gym, making me around 200 grams every day. I previously got somewhere around that but used protein shakes for nearly half of it and I genuinely don’t think powdered protein is nearly as bioavailable to our bodies as whole food, so this is a game changer.
I plugged the example day of eating into myfitnesspal once as a quick demonstration in another thread. The whole day came out to:
Cals: 6026 kcal
Protein: 385g
I didn’t make a note of fat or carbs, but I think it’s safe to say they’d both be pretty high. Its obviously not 100% accurate, but a pretty clear ballpark. It’s not a small amount of food.
I just quickly googled protein for amounts of beef and eggs. I think I may have seriously undershot the protein haha
Yeah I tend to do better with more real food vs shakes. Right now I’ve been getting like 225-250 and only one shake. Lots of food lol
Burger mania in here. Love it!
You’ve probably said it but I haven’t been able to keep up in this burger house. How long will ya do the dirty dozen and 1.5# burger?
Hamburgers are my favorite food group
6 weeks. I’m not excited for these 6 weeks, more for the doors it will open.
@jshaving nah. I feel like my gut is already on the brink of destruction, I’m not sure it’d handle gulping down eggs. I’ve done it with milk before but honestly I’d rather just choke down the eggs at this point.
