I agree. They have always been my favorite trucks.

You both have a good point. But…most people with the money to spend on cars like that dont care about mpg, and they don’t look too deep into cars except for their look and performance. People with lots of money spend it because they can, and because they want to enjoy it. Not to impress people. People think they do it to impress bc they most likely dont have that kind of money and they are jealous. Jealousy turns to hate. Also, alot of women tend to like bigger vehicles bc it makes them feel safer, eventhough it really isnt any safer than a compact car. Just like how a woman feels more protected by a boyfriend who is big and buff…
There are plenty of people out there that can’t drive worth a shit, but they dont all drive H2s and huge trucks. This is almost turning into steriotyping people who have money to buy these type of cars.
Agree with several of your points but I could not disagree more that most people don’t drive a car to impress, I think the opposite is true in many cases. Many people look at cars as status symbols. The funny thing is, half the folks driving these cars can’t afford them. Just because you can get a note for a car, does not mean you can afford it. Anyhoo, you are right on the money that the type of vehicle has no bearing on the drivers ability to safely drive a car.
Regarding mpg, Oil is a finite resource and as such should not be wasted period, although this problem is far more wide spread that the cars we are driving.
And lastly, another vote for the Ram, I have been in a hummer and just was not impressed. The Ram is a great looking truck.
I’ve always been a fan of the Dadge Rams but I’ve recently got myself a F 150. A truck is very reasonable. You’ll always have cargo to haul. As far as the Hummer. There seems to be a lot of tools on here that probably dislike the Hummer based on the fact they can’t afford it. If they were on a game show and had to chiose between a Celica, Toyota Rav, or Hummer for example, you’d better believe they’d be in the Hummer. Also they are much safer than you’re little monkey cars some of these dudes are driving.

I just bought a H3 2 weeks ago. I bought for under 30,000 and it get the same damn gas milage as my Jeep liberty did. The Hummer H3 gets 19 miles a gallon better than that of the big v8 trucks and guess what if you can afford the big V8 trucks then the H3 is most likely same price of cheaper…So for the ones that keep complaining do you damn reseach before you fly off the handle…by the way…Oh it is so much fun to drive…and it has a turning radius of a bike…
I am glad I got my Ram as a 2001 model. I love the hell out of my truck but I think the front end on the new Rams looks kinda lame.

For the original question, it would depend on what you need it for. I throw a fair amount of crap in the back of my pickup (which is very big and gets poor milage) so a h2 wouldn’t work for me. I happen to like the h2 however, I’d own one if I needed an suv.
I’ve had small cars and trucks. I’m a bigger guy so a large truck is much more comfy for me to drive. I also like that I can carry a bunch of people and a bunch of shit.
So, I “bodybuild” and I drive a big truck. I guess this means I have a micropenis.

Yeah, I should have known that some posters would turn this into a ‘gas-guzzlers are evil’ thread. Since I’m going to buy a new Ram, thought I’d try to start a funny thread about it. Fucked it up bad!!
I’m on the large size also so I NEED a big vehicle. I’m 6’7" and 280. How would I fit into one of those little soapbox derby cars?
Also, almost forgot. I bought a duramax, so I would push ya on that. Much more quiet than the dodge. I have to admit though, the new mega cab is a neat idea. I’m sure everyone will follow.

They were mine too, until Nissan released the Titan.

Really? I don’t really like the look of it…the Rams are badass.
Plus, I will never buy a Japanese car or (especially) truck. Ever.
My dad’s camry is more “american” than many GMs on the road, when you consider where the parts are from, where its built, etc.
SUCH a sad statement. I finally gave in and started buying Japanese since, let’s face it, they build a better car.

Yep. I like the Rams, but I know the Titan has a better resale value, will last longer, and outruns the Ram, unless it has the 345hp Hemi, or the big diesel. The Titan is a beast.

Sadly, yes they do. Amreican cars are built well enough to last the years of payment only to be traded in on another new car. On the other hand, ask how many people are driving Toyotas and Nissans that are well past their prime.
(Ok, I konw there are some of you with old American vehicles. But how much maintenence have had to do to keep them this long?)
Screw hybrids. Nobody knows how reliable these things are in the long run, they cost thousands more and their mileage is grossly overestimated. I say get a diesel, they are proven reliable and get better mileage than comparable gas engines and you can run biodiesel. The jeep liberty diesel gets great mileage or those volkswagen TDIs get 40-50 mpg while still having 180 lb ft of torque. I say diesls are the way to go just like the guy who started this thread went with the diesel getting 18 mpg versus 9 mpg with the gas V8.

Abso-fuckin-lutely! In Japan, they sell used girls’ underwear in vending machines for guys to sniff. Any nation that does that is one fucking sick-ass country! The guy who installed your steering wheel was probably doing that and whacking off in the back, just before he came back on duty.

It had more to do with supporting America’s workers than some Japanese guy who sniffs panties.
You been smokin the reefer again?

I plan on driving mine 'til the wheels fall off. Or at least until the lease is up and I can get something faster.

I heard Pavel sniffs panties…no wait…um he hates stuff like that. He would rather sell 32 page books for $39.00.
Smart guy…
FI,
It was my weak attempt at humor. I forgot to put a smilie afterwards.

Personally, you should drive what you want, but if I got a truck, which I am going to have to… (6ft 7 weigh about 300lbs) I have a tough time in my mazda protege, although its a great car and gas up in Canada is 1.15 per litre. which means multiply by 3.8 and you realize we pay about 4.37 a gallon. I would get a Dodge Ram anyday over the Hummer, regardless of the price. I drove a hummer (company truck) and I found I could barely sit comfortably in it. Too much plastic and I didnt like how it was made, and driving it was just insane, its hard to keep the thing in one lane, its a damn monster. I mean I like trucks and cars, but I think the Hummer is way overkill. The only thing that bothers me is that my neighbours, all have big trucks with dual exhaust, and all they do is start them, and let them run, rev the engine, like all day, and maybe take it around the block, than come back, I dont understand the logic in that, and just because someone cares about the environment doesnt make them a tree hugger. When I get a truck I will be towing or definitely making use of the truck bed, and you wont find me letting my truck run for 30 mins, while revving the engine. I think they should give arrogant people who run their shit all day a huge fine, be it whether they run their car or truck all day. Stupidity is stupidity no matter what you drive. Damn I cant wait to get a truck, but until than I dont mind my Mazda.
