Do You Re-Rack Your Weights?

I notice certain military guys won’t rack their weights. SERE students won’t rack 'em. Survival, Evasion, Resistance & Evacuation - dunno what their deal is.

I always rack mine. Not necessarily in the right places (sorry, Virgo-girl!) but the plates make it back to the racks. I always put the db’s in the right slots. I don’t like having to stand & stare to make sure I’ve got the 20# instead of the 25#. If I try to do flys with 25# it’s NOT good! Even going super slow & easy, I can about feel stuff tear. I think I need to find 22.5# db’s.

Interesting thread ~

Renee

I’ll re-rerack them unless there’s someone waiting to hop on - then I’ll ask them if they want em on or not.

Yep. Common sense & stupid not to re-rack. Who wants dumbbells or plates lying around the floor?

Granted, if the gym staff doesn’t pay attention the lazier jerks in the place can get away with stacking a plate teepee but for the most part the gyms I frequent the “leaving shit lying around asshole factor” is not that high (must be my timing)

As for missmg - some nice pix on your FB profile. Great work.[/quote]

yeah i don’t really care about the thread, nice avatar. Part of me is praying that one has some indian in her. I hope thats the case

your going to be popular around here…

yup, she seems super knowledgable

I’ve been lifting for a long time…

I’m praying missmg1976 is a woman and not a troll. One can always hope right?

If you are indeed the sexy fox in your avatar, I thank you for joining T-Nation.

As for unracking, I always do except for leg press. I am constantly tempted to leave my DL unracked though. I HATE when the barbell is lying on the ground and you have to strip all those plates off after destroying your lower bacl, not fun.

Yes, I am most definitly a woman. Thanks…

haha good.

God don’t you just love having to constantly confirm the fact that you are indeed a woman and that is you in your pictures? Haha.

Well at least you know that when people think you are too good looking to be real, you are doing something right. I wouldn’t worry about what the jb guy was saying.

Thank you! I’m a little sensitive to the comments, because the other week in the gym, some guy told me to “stop lifting” in the gym…because I “look like a mini arnold…” wft??? I’m pretty sure I don’t???

haha any guy who busts his ass in the gym and knows how much work goes in to building a great physique will love a woman with a build like yours. Who cares what some guy who probably does 1/4th squats with 95 lbs thinks?

I know when I go to the gym I drool over the girl with the tight ass and legs doing deadlifts and squats, but don’t even give the cardio bunnies a second look.

Most of these type comments come from insecure people. When a guy sees a woman in the gym who is in much better shape than he is, imagine how pathetic he must feel hah. He probably just took a jab at you to just make himself feel better.

If I was you I’d take that as a compliment.

My suggestion to you is go to the Sex and the Male Animal forum. Go to the T-Vixen 2.0 thread. Post a sexy pic and await the responses. Your mind will be put at ease after that, trust me.

Haha, thank you. I think he was just mad that I walked in looking like a little barbie doll…and then was squatting more weight than he could. I think you’re right…it’s a compliment. Either way, I’m not going to stop lifting;)

haha yeah you might be on to something there with the jealousy, I’d be a little jealous too. But just think; he caused us to provide entertainment for the whole forum :stuck_out_tongue:

Point taken…

MissMG - the combination of physique crafted by iron, and the sexiness of a woman . . . that . . . god dammit . . . distracted by profile pics . . .

[Summary = Hot, feminine, obviously worked at the dinner table and under the iron for her current state]

Thank you, your post made me smile:)

I never re-rack the weights and I don’t give a fuck about it either. Part of my gym membership goes toward paying some pimply faced 16 year old to rack that shit anyways, so let him earn his $7.50 an hour.

I always rerack my weights. Period. It’s a matter of respect for the gym and respect for the other lifters.

But of course things like manners and respect have died in this world. I would be a fool to expect anybody else to look at things the way i do.

But, that might be why my gym membership got canceled…

Looool!

not re-racking weights= 5am punishment workout for the whole team.

Really interesting thread with 2 totally unrelated discussions going on concurrently lol.

Anyway in my gym, it is often so crowded that I don’t even have to re-rack my bar. In fact, it often gets de-loaded in between sets. It is rather irritating to have some 120lb chick / chicken-sized dude removing your plates to do his 90lb bench. Fortunately it only happens occasionally.

I actually got into it with a monster (6’4’', 350 lbs) the other day at my gym over this. He left ten 45 lbs plates total on the plate loaded bench machine as well as six on the smith machine and hadn’t touched either of them for 30 min. I didn’t need them, but I still asked him if he was done. His response was, “You can use them if you need them.”

I said, “Nope, but you do NEED to put your weights away.” He responded that “it was the employees job to put the weights back.” I told him that “today it was his job.” It’s probably a good thing that I have insane looking eyes because after that he put his shit away.

It could’ve been your crazy eye … or your reputation for sudden and unexplainable bursts of uncontrolled and unrelenting anger resulting in bodily harm for all involved…nttawwt

Great work man. I have to master that insane looking furious gaze thing… Wish me luck

There’s posters plastered around my gym’s weightroom saying that if members don’t re-rack their weights, they will be asked to leave

I always re-rack mine though, it’s just manners

I always re-rack. I have noticed though that when I work out on post (any of several gyms on Ft. Hood) I seem to be one of the few that do so. At the Gold’s I go to though, almost everyone re-racks.

Missmg I wouldn’t fret on guys harassing you. It just means you’re doing something right. Also, I’ve NEVER ONCE had a decent looking guy give me shit. It’s always some skinny bastard. The ego is so transparent on those guys

x2

It’s never the good looking guys who want to get insulting, it’s ALWAYS the fat, ugly ones, or the scrawny prepubescent looking ones. I don’t see any reason why that would be any different on the internet.
