Do You Re-Rack Your Weights?

Sooooo funny, and so true!!! I never even thought about that:)

It’s never the good looking guys who want to get insulting, it’s ALWAYS the fat, ugly ones, or the scrawny prepubescent looking ones. I don’t see any reason why that would be any different on the internet.
Total agreement:)

makes me feel good i was the nice one

Religiously. Always, without fail. I might leave 135 on the bar if someone looks like they want to warmup after me but that’s about it. If you’re man enough to put lots of plates on the bar or use the big boy dumbbells you can put your stuff away. It’s just common courtesy.

Whoa, hold on. Men actually approach you, in the gym, to put you down? Seriously? This shit actually happens in real life? Is this a regular occurrence?

Wow. And I thought I was an asshole for getting caught checking out the smoke show doing bent over rows.

I actually got into it with a monster (6’4’', 350 lbs) the other day at my gym over this. He left ten 45 lbs plates total on the plate loaded bench machine as well as six on the smith machine and hadn’t touched either of them for 30 min. I didn’t need them, but I still asked him if he was done. His response was, “You can use them if you need them.”

I said, “Nope, but you do NEED to put your weights away.” He responded that “it was the employees job to put the weights back.” I told him that “today it was his job.” It’s probably a good thing that I have insane looking eyes because after that he put his shit away.

Great work man. I have to master that insane looking furious gaze thing… Wish me luck
better get yourself some insane legs first, to make a speedy exit should the insane eyes fail.

Someone mentioned that most of the hardcore guys leave their stuff loaded. I found the exact opposite to be true. All the small, young guys leave their stuff everywhere and wont put it away unless told.
Also, what kind of gyms do you guys workout in where people are allowed to leave their crap everywhere? I know that for every person who left their stuff loaded in the gyms I worked in, there were probably 5 or so who complain about them. It is a lot easier to tell the person to put their stuff back than than to constantly comfort disgruntled members.

I think it just comes with the territory for women who lift weights. As she said already - “Whatevs!”

I would re-rack missmg1976, uh wait a sec, what was this thread about?

Yes, they do. And it’s never guys who are in good shape. There’s the fat fuck who laughed in my face because I “made up” a “ridiculous exercise” that I called front squats. There’s the 6 breasted morbidly obese man who stood 3 feet away from me while I did deadlifts and then told me I was a retard because I was doing my rows all wrong. There’s the skinny dude who refused to step back from the dumbbell rack and then got pissy because “you don’t even belong here anyways!”

Guys in really shitty physical condition do NOT like women in the weight room. They are threatened by us. I get constant dirty looks from men who weigh less than I do, and the fat guys will openly scoff at me and call me stupid.

None of this happens when my husband’s there of course, or when the trainer is there, or even any of the decently built gym regulars. But if it’s me and some POS who doesn’t even know what he’s doing, oh then he’s sure to make some dumbass comment.

Marvel Girl - Out of curiosity, do you get hassled out of the gym in the same way? Is it common in Nevada?

No. Outside of the gym I either seem to get stared at or hit on. I’m little and I’m “cute” so people are generally pretty nice to me. The only places where people are really rude to me are at the gym, and it’s never anyone serious about lifting, and they only do it when I’m alone. The other place is at clubs where fat girls will try to start shit with me, they’ll throw ice cubes at me when I’m not looking or call me names while looking away because somehow they think that’s clever.

I really like Nevada, but there’s a definite divide between the ugly people and the pretty people in Vegas. Since I’ve lost more weight, I’ve had to be more selective about where I hang out or some tub o’ lard will try to ruin my night. It’s sad.

i rerack DB’s put rarely strip plates off a bar, even the guys that work at the gym dont strip the plates off when they’re done lol

I was going to use the Leg Press machine once and some guy left on about 7 or so 45lb plates on each side which i thought was totally fucking lame. Shit like that pisses me off because if someone goes to use it that might be very old or weak, they will never get them off.
or even might want to warm up with less than that.

Ya, it just comes with the territory…most guys are actually super cool, but there are a few bad seeds who just…get mad that I’m lifting:) It surprised me at first, but in the long run…I just do my thing, and don’t care what anyone else thinks.

Yes!!! I know exactly what you mean. The guys who actually know what they are doing are always cool, and very respectful to me. Generally I think that they appreciate that I train. Usually some out of shape dude will tell me that I’m “breathing funny” or…“gonna get too big” or that I’m deadlifting wrong. Yup, if there’s another guy around they won’t.

OMG, same thing! Guys are super nice to me outside the gym as well. I just came back ffrom Vegas, and they is a definite chasm between in shape…and not. For me I could care less if someone isn’t in shape, that’s okay. So why do they get upset with us?
