Do I Have Potential? If So, What am I Doing Wrong?

well the fucking DOCTOR didn’t seem to think so.
Or I just don’t have bb genetics
Neither do I. Neither do most people. You can still make the best of what you’ve got.
But somehow in you guy’s eyes. It’s my diet that’s keeping me from making any gains at all the gym.
Ok, one last attempt despite knowing you won’t listen. I’m going to give it one last go:

It is your diet. I know you don’t want to admit it, but it is. You ate too much and got fat. Sucks, I know, particularly because you were eating what you thought were “clean” foods (an annoying term in itself but that’s another conversation for another time), but even the cleanest of calories will turn into fat if you eat too many of them.

“Bodybuilding is 80% nutrition” is a very famous quote by a man called Vince Gironda. Go ahead and google him and the people he worked with. Recognise some of those names? Yep, they were some big jacked dudes. Think that maybe old Vince knew what he was talking about? Yeah; me too.

The reason people are getting frustrated with you (aside from the fact you come across as a whiny, arrogant dick) is that we’ve seen these threads 4,000,000,000 times on these forums. Seriously - stick around a while and you’ll see for yourself. Young guys like you will talk endlessly about which routine they’re doing, and their diet is reduced to a couple of key sentences like “my diet is perfect” or “I eat clean” or some such. The diet is always an afterthought.

But here’s the thing: ANY routine will get you jacked. Literally any routine you find on any website or in any book (if guys your age even read those anymore) will work. So when you say “I’ve tried SS, ppl, PHAT” and all that shit, no one cares because it doesn’t fucking matter. The actual routine itself is completely arbitrary.

Getting into the gym and training hard is the easy part. It’s locking your diet down day after day after day after every fucking day is the hard part. I know you believe you diet is good, but the results speak for themselves and no, it’s not because of your hormones or any of that other shit that’d take the blame off your shoulders.

I will now tell you how to set up your diet. There will be no ifs or buts from you, and if you have any fucking sense you will do exactly what I say. I don’t want to hear a single word of argument or complaint out of your dirty little mouth. Agreed? Ok. Against my better judgement I’m going to give you both bulking and cutting guidelines despite the fact I don’t actually think that’s the best thing for you. I do however think it might be advice you could potentially listen to.

So before we start, your maintenance calories is BW x 15 cals. That’s your bodyweight in lbs mulitplied by 15. Got that? Good. If anyone tells you anything different you have my permission to murder them.

CUTTING:

-BW x 10-12 cals
-Protein 1g - 1.5g per lb of bodyweight
-Carbs 150g or less
-Remainder calories from fat

BULKING:

-BW x 20cals
-Protein 1g - 1.5g per lb of bodyweight
-Carbs 1g - 2g per lb of bodyweight
-Remainder calories from fat.

I don’t particularly give a shit about food choices, but don’t be a dick and get all your carbs from cake or anything else stupid like that. You know what constitutes a healthy food and an unhealthy food, so act accordingly.

Right. Off you go.

Go see a psychiatrist, I just looked at your pics, you aren’t fat. You look like a normal untrained teenager.

“Lions care not for the opinions of sheep.”

You’re young. Just keep at it. At your age you are approaching peak growth potential and if you train hard and learn to eat right in a few years you will be a stud.

That’s more and less what I’ve been following bro. Also I know for a fact that if I started eating 4000 cals a day. I’d go up like 10% bf in a month. My body is very very very quick at keeping fat and storing that shit in my lower body. Ate 3200 at those macros and couldn’t fit whatsoever in my jeans by week 7. Female fat storages of peace

Look at how much disproportionately bigger my legs are compared to my tiny upper body. It’s hard to tell I’m fat because I carry it all in my lower body like a female. Tbh, idek anymore. Maybe I just have bdd and are delusional

Thats why I ask about motivation. How hard are you willing to work?

Can you live with the way you are now?

If you can, and have a take it or leave it attitude, then just leave it. Don’t waste your own or anybody else’s time. The amount of work and dedication to improve is daunting, and if you simply aren’t that motivated, you aren’t going to do it.

If you can’t, then act accordingly. Do what ever you have to do to make the changes you need. If that means killing a sacred cow like this diet or some genetics bullshit- then kill it.

You’ll never know if you have potential or not if you don’t let go of the things that are holding you back from realizing it.

Then I’ll repeat what I said. “I would assume given your strength levels and the fact that you were clearly in a calorie surplus to have gained that fat, you weren’t pushing yourself hard enough in the weight room. So on top of your diet, I would re-examine that. 5/3/1 was mentioned, which if done right will help auto-regulate pushing you to some degree.”

Meaning, if you are getting fat, you are eating too much for your activity level. I don’t know if that was the cleanest 4000 calories anyone’s ever saw, or 3000, or 2000, or whatever. Whatever amount it was, WAS TOO MUCH for whatever you were doing. And if your strength did not improve much at all despite you clearly being in a calorie surplus, the only other thing you can logically fix is your training intensity and progression. You did not progress with the weights. You need to do that to get bigger and stronger, and eating a absolutely perfect diet in terms of food choices and what not does not cancel out that fact.

So do 5/3/1 or another program where you try to beat rep PR’s on a couple main lifts and try to beat them every single training session. Every. Single. One.

You look normal to me.

x100!!! Listen to this man. Once I started doing this and hitting the gym consistently EVERYTHING got better.

After seeing so many people talk about “how he got fat” I started wondering how many people clicked his picture lol He is decently fit-looking, maybe holding a bit of extra around the legs/ass, but only he gives a shit about that.

The thing holding me back is probably my bdd. I need to get that checked or I’ll probably never move on

Yea but I’m extremely and I mean very extremely self conscious about the fat on my legs and ass tho. completely ruins my physique and makes me look feminine as fuck. That and narrow as fuck shoulders

You look perfectly normal. Not feminine at all.

It’s fascinating how the internet has allowed for us to discover SO many things that make success beyond our control.

Genetics
Disorders
Low testosterone
Hormones
Global conspiracies
Alignment of the stars
etc

Maybe I’ve just read too much Kierkegaard, but I feel like accepting the fact that success is out of your reach and then just deciding you’re going to work as hard as possible anyway has worked well for me.

So that fat all over my lower body can’t ever go away ? Even when I did football and wrestling in highschool. They never went away. Upper body just got leaner. The whole reason I got Into bb after years of cardio to no avail was to find a way to get rid of my hideous fat legs

I don’t see all the excess fat on your legs that you see. You look proportional to me.

See how come every says I’m fine and doesn’t see all the fucked up shit I see on my body. Am I that fucked up in the head. I literally think I have the worst physique and proportions a man could ask for.

Yes.

Quit bitching. You sound like a chick more than you look like one.
