lol
thanks kimba.
don’t worry about ur numbers… at the stage ur at…they’ll continue to go up up up if you put in the work. =+)
i just realized i cut/pasted my last entry from my other journal and forgot to cut out a couple references that would make no sense to anyone here. sorry!
i got over 10 hours of sleep last night. those c/p workouts knock my ass OUT.
time for coffee and an obese breakfast.
At 130 lbs., 325 is a 2.5x bodyweight deadlift. That is a real achievment.

mah back feel likes someone took a baseball bat and pounded the shit out of each and every muscle. ahhh!
thanks for the holla. =+) if i can get the 350 by the end of the year i’ll be VERY stoked.
nutrition’s been good. drinking too many beers lately… but the food’s been pretty clean and i’ve been nailing my macros and fruit/veggie goals.
since my last post i’ve had a high volume upper press day and a box squat/unilateral leg stuff day.
today i’ll be doing a heavier upper press workout.
probably going to be partying all weekend… and then going camping in the sierra nevadas the first part of next week.
i need to make sure i eat enough good food on saturday so i have some energy for the 330 attempt on sunday. scuuuured.
You’re the same height and weight as me but lift a LOT more! Dammit! I’ll be keeping track of your log as I try to catch up this fall/winter lady ![]()

well ur totally badass with those dips! =+)
and you shouldn’t have a hard time catching me since i’ll have to spend quite a few weeks cutting pretty hardcore if i ever want to lose this damn belly and love handles.
one of the reasons i got into lifting was to get a bigger ass. i had an ass so flat it hurt to sit on a bed. i want a ginormous ghetto booty. i’ve made some pretty damn good progress… but i’ll always want it bigger. lol
anyways… i decided to do some strict military presses after my heavy bench sets and got a new PR. 110 x 1. hell yeah!!! gains on that lift are few and far between. i haven’t been training it lately… but have been using seated behind the neck presses as an accessory on bench days and it seems to have carried over nicely to mp’s. especially since i did another upper workout 3 days ago and absolutely WAXED my shoulders. they were still sore last night.
110 on military press is so damn bad-ass.
thanks kimba! =+)
so i had to wake up early this morning and milk. didn’t get a full 8 hours last night… but got close. i was hoping for more since i only got about 3 the night before. =+/
then had to rush in coan/philippi week 9 before we leave for sequoia/kings canyon national park for a few days of camping.
lets just say i’m pretty stoked on this new pr!!! hell yeah!!!
damn it was hard though. and came up mighty slow.
c/p week 9:
deadlift wu: 135 x 6: 175 x 5; 225 x 3; 275 x 1
deadlift: 330 x 1 (PR)
speed deadlifts: 245 x 3, 3
power shrugs: 235 x 5, 5 (PR)
romanian deadlifts: 235 x 5, 5 (PR)
time to jump in the shower and get down some food.

You should be very proud of yourself! I just watched that video three times in a row.

Wow! Like Kimba said, be proud. That’s an amazing deadlift! Keep pushing those numbers through the roof.
Awsome PR on the deadlift. I love the total-body shake–that’s a sure sign of maximum effort.
thanks ladies. =+)

haha… yeah gotta love the shake. thanks for the holla, dude!
camping was a good time.
i have the final c/p workout on sunday. sposed to go for 340… but i’m not feeling very confident about it. i’ll definitely give it everything i have though!
then i’m gonna spend 5 weeks doing the dreadful C word. no not that one… i meant cutting. =+)
cutting’s a bitch… but i’m packing way too much fat around my middle. my love handles seriously need a bra, they’re getting so big.
that should give me a good 8 weeks to chase the 350 deadlift before the year ends.
If you wouldn’t mind edumacating me, what is the purpose of bulking/cutting? I’m assuming from what you’ve written that the extra weight helps with strength?
Although I’m interested in gaining strength, am I NOT interested in buying all new clothes to accommodate changes in size. Just did that and it was expensive!

in my case it’s pretty much purely aesthetic.
i started my “fitness journey” to lose weight, get a flat tummy, lose my love handles, etc etc.
well i quickly figured out that was more a nutrition thing and spent a lot of time sucking up all the nutrition info i could.
anyways i wanted to lose fat… but i also was highly driven by wanting a much larger ass. i have a very straight body (no fuckin hips)… so i realized i had to add mass to my legs as well as losing fat around my middle and putting mass on my back and shoulders to give the appearance of having some kind of “hourglass” figure.
i’m a super all or nothing type of person. so for me… extreme bulking and cutting cycles were the easiest way for me to move towards these goals.
ideally i’ll hit a place i’m happy with my body and then just eat at a slight surplus while working my ass of in the gym. but i’m not there yet.
i’m also very “seasonal”… in that i love to eat a ton of fruit and beer and carby items in the summer/fall… but can really reign that in in the spring/winter.
someone with as little bodyfat as you will never need to worry about this shit. i’d assume muscle is a bit harder for you to put on…as is fat. so you get to eat pretty big and lift big and pretty much maintain… but continue to look better and better since ur slightly recomping at all times.
people like me put on fat and muscle pretty easily. i can grow a pair of love handles… no problem. but i also can get pretty good strength gains as long as i’m eating at a surplus.
both worlds have their ups and downs.
anyways… i’m totally rambling. so sawry.
but those were the aesthetic reasons i used the bulk/cut cycles. they pretty much all come down to looking good naked. (i was in a bikini challenge last spring on another fitness site… to try to get into bikini shape… and we all had to post a pic of ourselves wearing a bikini in public)…
but somewhere along the lines i became addicted to strength based training. so ideally somewhere in my future i’ll be able to lift without worrying about aesthetics at all. till then i feed the iron hunger during my bulking phase and do my best to maintain strength through heavy training and immaculate nutrition during my cutting phases.

Interesting journey indeed! Thanks for sharing. I completely understand being an “all or nothing” sort of person, and its great that you’ve discovered what works well for you.
Once I started lifting, enough muscle showed up pretty quickly to give me the body I was looking for, and at the same time my bodyfat dropped. So I got a “transformation” within about six-eight months without too much trouble. I’m aware that I hit the genetics lottery here.
Doubtless I could make bigger strength gains if I were willing to eat at a surplus. But I work pretty hard at eating maintenance for aesthetic reasons - I’m happy with my body exactly as it is and want no more muscle or to lose any fat. I certainly wish the same for you.
If the choice is better squat and deadlift numbers faster, but with more bodyfat…well my choice is clear. They will have to rip these size 2 jeans off my lifeless body. ![]()

good for you!! damn genetics lottery is right. but now you have to work hard to maintain… so i guess in the end we all get to work hard in some way or another.
i think u’ll find you don’t put on muscle in a linear manner… especially not to the extent you did when you first started working out. i think u’ll be able to eat a good bit above maintenance and not put on much size at all. i think u’ll actually have trouble putting on much muscle at all once you hit a certain level.
so don’t be scared of getting huge. just perpetuates the myth ya know. even if you are a genetic freak. =+P
it’ll be interesting to see what does happen with ur body from this point forward.
what calorie level are you eating at atm???

Absolutely true. Healthy eating, exercise and lifting are hard work – and fun too! Sitting on the couch with one hand in a bag of potato chips and the other on the TV remote is way, way easier.

Yeah, I hate that stereotype that a girl will get “bulky” from lifting. Indeed, I haven’t noticed any increase in muscle size in awhile, although I continue to get somewhat leaner over time. I have increased my strength, though. Which is where its at for me!

Yup, this will be interesting going forward for sure!
I actually have NO IDEA what my calories/macros are. I eat non-piggish, frequent servings of lean protein, fruits, veggies, nuts, cheese (cottage cheese and regular), and oatmeal for breakfast. I stay away from starchy carbs, and keep bread, sweets and alcohol to occasional treats. Luckily for me, I don’t often crave this stuff, but when I want it I eat it. Basically I check myself with my scale and how my clothes fit.
I don’t feel deprived, and I actually feel better eating this mix of foods. I spent almost 20 years riding my bicycle pretty hard (including centuries and mega hill climbs) and eating whatever I wanted only to end up with a jiggly ass and cellulite thighs. I much prefer this way!

sounds like absolute perfection to me. =+D
good on ya.
What an AWESOME lift! You killed it…
much admiration.
