Distilled Wisdom About Knee Wraps

Just wanted to say thank you for all the advice. It made a big difference. Today I suited up, cranked down the wraps (bottom to top spiral, about 7 revolutions) and slowed my descent a bit.

The results: 6x341, 3x374, 2x407 and 1x429

I think you can get the wraps a lot tighter than that even.

I weigh over twice as much as you with huge knees, calfs, and thighs and I can get 10 revolutions out of a stretchy 2.5 meter wrap. I’ve never used an Iron Wrap Z knee wrap but have a pair of Iron Wrap Z wrist wraps so I know how stretchy they are.

It just takes practice but the tighter you can get the wraps on the more you can get out of them.

man, if you can drop so fast with a suit you are doing something wrong. Your suit is probably a few sizes too large.

just keep tight during the decent, it all looks very uncontrolled. Keep tight and explode. You are totaly not putting any stress on the suit.

You do know that’s a soft suit right? I doubt I’d fit into a smaller one. Its a Metal medium which is listed as for 80 to 90 kg, and I weigh in around 86 to 87 kg these days.

… That’s not a squat suit… Its a singlet… You know the thing you have to compete in when doing powerlifting… Are you a fat powerlifter or just a fat lifter who has not compete yet? Not trying to be a dick but, that’s pretty common knowledge.

I don’t doubt that. I’ll see how much tighter I can get them, because I’ll be honest, it wasn’t that uncomfortable so I could take a little more. How much does getting them tighter wear the wraps out? I’ve got a spare pair coming (Lilliebridge World Records, all that was in stock), but I don’t want to go through too many pairs as they aren’t that cheap over here.

I have had the same Elitefts for over 2 years and they are fine. As they break in they even better often.

so its only a singlet? In that case you did a better job at staying tight than your previous lifts. But you gotta atack that lift out of the bottom a lot more. Keep tight, tight tight and then explode up. Where as for RAW lifts i like to just bounce in the bottom.

How the fuck is that not raw?

Why do you write raw in all caps?

To differentiate between “raw”, which is belt & wraps. And “raw raw” which is just a belt. “RAW” is no belt, no wraps, no wrist wraps, no chalk, no collars, no underwear, and done from strength built by eating a strict paleo diet.

haha no. For some reason it is writen with capitals here. I dont know why, but it is what it is.

Raw is, no suit no wraps imo. With wraps its called raw with wraps.

To give you an idea of how tight a knee wrap should be I saw guys at my meet yesterday bleeding from the back of their legs from the wrap. Today the back of my knee and the inside of my lower thigh have big purple bruises on them.

Back of my girl’s knees after her last squat session. She gets 70lbs out of the wraps.

I’m 330lbs, my legs are the size of most many people’s waists.

I start my wrap above the knee cap, then 3-4 revelations to get below the knee cap. 2 revelations below the knee cap, one going across the knee cap in a diagonal manor, then one above the knee cap again.

That’s 7-8 revelations at 330 lbs with around 27" thighs. Not bragging, it’s about 25-28% body fat, so nothing to brag about, but just showing if I can get that many revelations, then you can get a lot more.

The wraps themselves need to be broken in, keep that in mind. I just purchased the lillibridge wraps to play with (I don’t like them), but each time I wrap, I get a little more out of them as they get more stretch.

The back of Reed’s lady’s legs is what my belly looks like from my belt haha.
