Popping by…congrats on the stars…read about your health issues…hmmm…have you ever considered natural solutions (herbs, etc) to help normalize yourself?

CONGRATULATIONS! I just noticed the other day my log got stars too! I kept wondering if and when that was every going to happy, heh.
The joy that I felt, man I tell ya…
Kairiki- I guess you can take ‘natural,’ thyroid supps to support yourself if you don’t have full blown thyroidism, which I do. You need hormones to replace what your body is not making.
Spox- yay, STARS!!!*****
I really like this article:
Makes me feel better about doin MOMFP. (so far no one has asked what that is, teehee)
yesterday was velly boring. No gym, just walking the pupp. Sometimes I like a quiet morning at home cause it’s nutty when the kids are here. Soon it will be quiet all day with my littlest going to kindergarten and I know I will miss the noise(maybe)
Congrats on the stars!
I miss the noise of my kids.
I have them for this weekend, so I’m sure I’ll get a big dose of noise!

I’m learning I am completely naive about this site. I still have no idea what you guys are talking about regarding stars. and i still don’t get the ‘friending’ thing? wtf?
anyway, hi mim ![]()
Forgot to mention here??? Wed was 1 yr since I quit smoking. Smoked my last one in the walmart parking lot while the hubby went in to buy nicotene patches. We were on our way to DC where my little daughter was to have heart surgery. And today has been 1 yr since her surgery.
What a stressful time that was. Some of you may remember when I found out the news. Hubby was still ‘over there,’ and I was shuttling little girl back and forth to her appts trying so hard to be brave and keep smiley faces all the time but on the inside it was a different story. Hubby FINALLY got to come home but then had to go back.
Probably when I started to get the sickest…
But! We are past that and growing to be stronger, happier and healthy.
And if you knew me IRL you’d know that I had a freakin smoking routine DOWN pat haha.
1 with coffee in the morning
1 after getting ready
2 on the way to work
1 when I got there
1 on smoke break
1 after lunch
1 smoke break
2 on the way home
1 on the way to the gym
1 on the way back
1 when I got home
1 after dinner
1 before bed
WTF!!!
People called me Betty Jones. Always feening…damn. I didn’t think I’d ever quit for good. I quit while I was pg both times but always started back up after.

You got da starts for your log too, lula! They are at the top of your journal. 5 stars for you! Some threads are starless, some have one, and others have 5.
Now I am curious who rated mine a 5! THANK YOU WORLD

That’s my grandma’s (maiden) name. I’m pretty sure she had your routine down to a science as well. Maybe a few more ‘fags’ in there for good measure.

I found this for you, MIM: Hypothyroidism solutions through foods, herbs and nutritional supplements
And okay, I’ll bite…what is MOMFP? waits with bated breath
Congrats on 1 year of being smokeless! Now the one thing you can focus on is being smoking hot for your hubby! hee, hee, hee!
D_ that is hilarious about your Grandma. Did she ever quit??
I’m always someone’s Grandma or Aunt…
K- thanks for that!!
And I’ll take a looksy…I do remember seeing it.
I don’t know how I would implement any program right now unless I tweaked the hell out of it.
I can do:
MP
TRAP bar
Push up
Leg press

I’m noticing lately my hip flexors are extremely tight and sore. To the point I can feel it when walking. My ortho guy did say that bad knees can stem from other bad places.
I’ve always had a weak lower back…maybe that is the root of all this ebil.
Congrats on your clean year! A lot of people give up but it doesn’t stick, so well done. As an ex-smoker myself, I know it’s a battle.

Ok, I think I understand what your getting at with the supplements. But I can’t go off my hormones and expect the supplements to ‘cure,’ me.
Is that what you mean?
I stick with the basics for now.
Multi-vitamin
VIT D3
Poly-IRON caps
Magnesium
Calcium
The new lady Dr. I’m seeing may suggest more stuff. But mainly right now I’m trying to myself as close to optimized with the proper amount of hormones before I spend more $$$ on stuff I may or may not need.
Speaking of, I’m starting to feel a bit bummed. I wish I could just guide my own Primary Dr through this. I know what tests I need, I know what I’m looking at when I see the results and mainly I know HOW I FEEEEL.
I just need someone to prescribe me meds!
I feel like this new Dr is 1,000x more helpful than anyone I’ve seen but I also don’t want to get ripped off.
There is a hefty office visit charge and an additional fee just for her to look at my labs.
SIGH
THanks Cal.
I was really ready to quit…I just needed a solid reason and the reassurance that I could, I guess. My hubby quit while he was deployed. So if he could do it so could I!!!
Hey MiM! Tight hip flexors while walking, huh? How much stretching/foam rolling/recovery work do you do? I’ve found foam rolling my IT band helps a lot. Here’s an article that helped me with my knees, too:

Hmmm…have you ever considered a naturopath or homeopathic medicine?
of course I’ve considered it.
I would have skipped straight to this part saving myself from the years of grief but it’s very expensive.
We’re a military family andI’m a stay at home mama= 1 paycheck household here.
We’ve worked really hard to pay down a bunch of debt over the last couple years…which is why we are finally in a position for me to be able to go outside the network of crappy Dr.s and pay for it ourselves.
The Dr. I’m seeing now is just as good as a naturopath, etc. She practices all that as needed. You can read about her here if you like.
Pixie- I’ve seen that article but it’s worth a second and third reading.
When I was going to PT, they noted my ITbands were very tight.
I did ZERO recovery stuff when I was heavy into this a few years back. In a way I’ve brought it on myself, thinking I didn’t need to do extra stuff.
Don’t be me!!
