I actually did think I was a boy growing up. Thats what happens when no one tells you otherwise? I had short hair like a boy, I played with boys and I dressed like a boy. My mom never had ‘talks,’ with me. I don’t think I even knew what boy/girl body parts names were until 4th grade.
My diet is NOT mostly candy and muffins. I’d be 500lbs by now. So now I’m a transgendered, toofless mermaid?? Got it.
Anyway!!
Ortho appointment this morning. Complained of more knee pain and he offered a cortisone injection. I turned it down because I need time to research. And I also want to know my limits with this cardio stuff without being all numbed up or whatever. And take the time to strengthen all areas(glutes, low back, quadssss, etc)
So my plan is to do mostly single leg work. Personally I think my left knee is so much hurtier, because my left quad/ham/glute is much weaker.
He agreed and sent me on my way with some more powerful nsaids at least. I go back in 6 weeks and he may order another MRI, especially if it’s still hurting to walk. It may be my muscles around the knee angry at me for increasing activity and may lessen…or not!
we’ll if it helps…and a lax ball. A little bit squishier than a baseball!
I’m going to check out swim suits…probably get a standard military issue one…cheaper that way. I really want to start swimming!
Arachne- thanks for the link…I saw that article. I’m going to pass for now and save that little challenge for later. I don’t think I would stick to it, tbh…seems kinda overkill anyway? I dunno. And I’m trying to find a good combo of cardio that doesn’t kill meh!
Not to dishearten you but I read an article where it talked about several studies done where men and women exercised but did not reduce calories. The men lost weight, the women didn’t. Seems women have to diet too. Sucks.
Still, cardio is good for the old ticker and I think it helps when you are dieting. But that weekend of naughty food probably didn’t help your scale. I know this too - my weight is not coming off either because I keep slipping in treats. When I’m cold and tired after work I really just want to eat yummy things to cheer myself up, but I guess I better find some other way of doing that. Phooey.
Anyway, good luck with the leg plan - I really hope it helps.
In addition to what Cal said, I always find it takes at least two weeks to start seeing some progress with a scale. I don’t know why. Maybe it just takes the body a second to switch into “shedding” mode.
You know how to get there. I’m not worried. It’ll happen. Just keep it up
I’ve always relied on diet to take care of the lbs.
My average calories over a 5 day period were 1200. My highest calorie day (not counting the weekend) was 1360. I guess I was thinking I would start at 1800 and slowly cut as needed…but I can’t even seem to get to 1800.
And what are considered ‘dieting calories,’ anyway if you’ve already been eating the same amount for years? Does that mean I have to go even lower?
Did you make this oatbran wrap yourself? Does your gym have a pool, where are you going to start swimming at. Just be prepared to feel very very hungry, just warning ya.
The drill hall on base has a pool. I just gotta hunt down a suit. There pretty ex$pensive at the Sporting GOods store and the uniform shop doesn’t carry military issue ones.
Good luck finding a swimsuit. I had to get one for school related stuff and it sucked. They were all equally expensive and even harder to fit than bikinis. I’m pretty broad for a little person, but I still wasn’t broad enough to fill out most of the suits that fit my lower half. And some of them were so hard to get into. I settled on a plain black Nike one.
I’m going browsing this afternoon with the little one.
I discovered that the three laps around with the pupp is only 21 minutes…So I’ve only been walking 42 minutes/day and not 1hr like I thought.
I’m going to keep it the same this week and increase next week for comparison.
Woke up with the knee aching and thought how FUN spin class is going to feel later And I’m pretty sore from yesterdays workout. Not enough stretching. None actually. oops…
Since I hit it pretty hard during training I don’t think BW stuff is going to happen after cardio sessions. Will have to add it in at the beginning of training instead.
So FOR YOU Betty you were on dieting Cals. For YOU rather than reducing cals I will expect the gradual improvement in T3 in your blood over time to cause fat to shed. I think your Cals are good. That and the cardio and having free meal not free weekend you will start seeing the scale move soon.
Cute Tomato was TUFF today and made it through her first real spin class!!
It was endurance based and I have none so I made it as hard as I could handle for a beginner without passing out.
There was an option to do 30 minutes and quietly leave or stay the whole hour. Of course I stayed the hour!! Although at about 35 minutes in I had to start bargaining with myself and made it past the pukey wall.
Hoping to get a suit today maybe and try swimming on Thursday. Knees were already achey this morning. Left knee started to kinda hurt at the 50 min class mark and now both are throbbing in annoyingly dull way.
I stretched well before i left…more stretching as I feel like it through the day…maybe some heating/icing. This new pain meds don’t take full effect until 1 month in, so the Dr says…wtf you give em to me for then??
When ALeve is supposed to work right away and these are supposed to be more potent??? scratches head
I was too lazy to do abs after Spin…and I can CLEARLY tell that I wouldn’t have it in my to give it my all to BW stuff after anyway.
