what about swimming?
D:
Its way hard…but I would imagine those shoulders of yours would do some great strokes. I swim and I get out feeling completely shattered in a good hearty way.

Ahahaha LMFAO this new phone… That’s almost as funny as when it changed boobs to blobs. Srsly why wouldn’t boobs be a word it knows? It’s gonna take forever to teach it to speak Hallowed. There’s Cali slang, internet talk, lolcat speak… Plus fitness acronyms for it to keEn.
Today we teach it HIIT.
ya girl, I gotcha. I thought it was a HOOT though ![]()
I’m already starting to bum about this cardio stuff. I’d rather just diet hardcore and save the cardio for maintaining. But I just started so we’ll see.
Brute- I’m not good enough swimming to make it count…maybe somethin to practice though. My lungs give out before my body does.
I sucked at eating today. Not enough food in general not enough protein too carby.
Hi mims, just checking in. Don’t do what hurts knees! Brute’s idea is a good one, if you’re not good at swimming that’s good for cardio. It should kick your ass pretty quick then. I use stationary bike if my knees or ankles feel wonky. Keep going! <3
Hey Darlin, thanks!
Mebbe I try swimming if I didn’t feel like a whale in a swimsuit. (sorry self, I know thats mean)
I’ll have to suck it up and try.
My knee has been aching and aching since spin class on Saturday. I woke up last night and was very uncomfortable. It feels more like an injury now.
Also driving the husbands jeep isn’t helping. It hurts to shift.
No clue.
Hey MiMsy! Thought of you last night as I iced my shoulder and then decided to put a heating pad on it. It just felt righ, yaknow? So I came to the conclusion that if the heat brings some relief, then go for it. Trust your instincts.
Also here!

I used this site when I was swimming after my surgery. I’m a cat in water! This was helpful.
And doing kickboard swimming drills are great! A side-swim like this guy does is an awesome leg workout!
Hope this helps!
are you typically not supposed to use heat?
Icing seems good for swelling and heat for aches/pains.
Wait, whats wrong with your shoulder?? Thanks for the vid. I’ll have to read up more about swimming as cardio(for beginners!)
I bought a swimsuit with short legs - most of the thigh is visible but it just means my saggy arse cheeks aren’t on display. I feel a lot less whale-like wearing that.

No, you’re right! I just looked it up, and the interwebs said ice for imflamation, heat for aches (muscular and joint). But I just went with my gut - felt good to ice it, then was like, “I want heat!” and did that later at night. Its still achey though, so I prob need some ibuprofein and to let it alone.
UGH! Mimsy, I hurt it horseing around of all things
I’m sure its just a minor sprain or something, but I need to be careful with the benching and stuff…ay yi yi!
What about water walking? I know it sounds silly, but I’ve done it with my mom. You put like a flaoty belt on and then “walk.” It’s so silly it’s awesome.
water walking…hmmm
I’ll save that one too.
Hubby is an aircrewman and knows how to do all the water survival shit meaning he actually knows how to swim.
My technique is awful. But as soon as he gets the ok he’ll get in the pool and teach me.
Elliptical at the gym was fine.
I did 5 minutes to warm up
Then my kneehab stuff
Then 20 minutes back on the elliptical playing with different resistances, trying to get my sweat on. I didn’t sweat like I did with spinning but it also didn’t hurt so that’s good.
Tried the stationary bike after walking it off some but my knees were aching so bad I couldn’t ignore it.
Damn.
Then I did 3x10- asst pull ups
3x6-8 push ups
Came home stretched some more and massaged myself ![]()
Not sure what happened. Hormones? My hubby coming home? But I was close to my goals last year and I didn’t appreciate it. TOok it for granted and then let it slip away.

I know what you mean, mim. Just get back on it. Amazing lats btw!
As for the elliptical, I can never get my sweat on with that thing either, and the stationary bike sometimes hurts my hip. Have you tried the rowing machine? Lots of people say that kicks their ass.
Reminded me of this song. Thanks Girl!
hmm, can’t remember if the rowing machine hurt or if I was freaked out by all the crunching/grinding going on. More than likely if my knees are grinding repetitively that just means pain later from the cartlidge swelling.
I sound like a downer lately. I’m really not trying to make excuses but trying to find ways around issues. (that rhymed!)
I’ve been told to get on the elliptical too. I don’t know I’ve tried it but found it boring, I like stomping on stuff when I have to do cardio.
Oh yeah, those are some swimming lats! You could be the next Esther Williams.
um yes! those lats can pull a ship behind you! !
Sorry you’re feeling down, I can relate and it sucks!
I WISH i could swim with any sorta technique…I just bobble along kinda half stroking and kicking. But Still! After about 8 minutes I’m blasted.
Elliptical is good! If its not hurty! I did the elliptical exclusively for years. OH! Also you can maybe do split times on stuff. Like elliptical for ten mins, then another thing for ten, then another.
Food wasn’t that great again today.
Had to fast for some labs I didn’t get done until nearly 10am, then I went straight to the gym.
1/2 cup cottage cheese by 12pm
like 3 tbsps hummus(I know)
Then by 2 I had baby roasted carrots(14oz)
and chickpeas(2cups)
Dinner is hamburger bacon tomato
wrapped in lettuce
