Yeah! I like burn calories, not remove them too! But either way, there’s so many choices you can make regarding diet and what works for your body. I hate that things have to be trial and error and you can’t just say, “this works for so-and-so, it’ll work for me” so as long as you figure out what works for you, then I think that’s great.
And you pretty much have!! Not piling on weight while figuring out the thyroid is a great, GREAT achievement. You should be super proud of that alone.
Anyways, the 30 mins of cardio a day is a great idea! I don’t know why the dog walks don’t count in that though, lol! You’re just a glutton for punishment ![]()
well, the walks are required.
The extra cardio at the gym or otherwise is ME time.
Hubby is digging out my rollerblades as we speak and I’m going to ‘walk,’ the dog that way…drain some of his energy first before practicing how to walk regularly.
wish me luck!!! lol
I can’t comment on the thyroid part, but I can comment on burning calories. 30 minutes of cardio a day is both good for your system and associated with weight loss. I’m not going all rogue on you guys: lifting is still the most awesome, but cardio is part of the whole picture.
Also if you haven’t been hitting it, it’s just one more way to confuse the hell out of your body and get it past a sticking point. And we all know that’s important!
Cute dog. ![]()
well that wasn’t so bad. And the rollerblading didn’t hurt my knees! This was more for the dog so I’m giving him a job to do. He wants to RUN! So this way he gets to.
I forget how killer blading is for the quads and buns(and lungs!!). Used to be one of my favorite things to do when I was a kid. Well actually rollerskating was. My mom would drop me off at the rink on a Saturday morning and pick me up at night lol…
I think this will be good for doggy AND me!!
Ha ha thats awesome…dogs bring so much joy. Im happy to hear your doing it the right way and understanding the pooches needs and making it work for both of you.
I’ve kinda always noticed your protein intake was kinda low…or seemed low to me when you would post you meals for the day.
Have you thought about bumping up that number?
Love the pup. He looks like a happy little guy. Probably just what you need, I reckon.
And yes, I’d agree with upping the protein.
yes I need to eat MORE. As crazy as that sounds…
I’ve gotten into the habit of skipping breakfast(or as many refer to “IF’ing”) training fasted, not eating anything until 12-1pm…and then not eating much more food after that. Not getting results from it obviously, just training my body not to EAT and not helping it ‘let go.’ I think I’ve managed to slooow everything down. I wasn’t doing this because I thought it was best, it’s just become a habit.
The last couple of days I’ve been eating breakfast!! I get up have my coffee-take the dog on a walk- then eat and THEN go to the gym.
It’s amazing what eating does though. It wakes up my appetite and has made me HUNGRY! lol
so here is my little schedule-
coffee- 630-7am
take thyroid around 730am
take dog out between 815-845
food@850am
gym by 930am
protein shake at 1100am-(or when I get home)
lunch when I get hungry
snack if needed
dinner
snack if needed
Ta-DAH!

gym today–
Did my little cardio
10 minutes walking incline)starting slowly @5%
10 minutes going up/down low hills on bike
(decided to start at 20 min instead)
Then:
5x5-leg press(didn’t do squats…knees were already aching while biking) Hip flexors also sore from little rollerblading stint yesterday.
5x5- bench press(didn’t HURT!! easy peasy) Bench has always been a weird one for me. Never do I feel it in my chest but everywhere else. It hurts my back. Push ups are way harder and I feel it(for me anyway)
5x5- t bar row
This all took me under an hour. I suppose as I increase lbs it will take longer. But I was happy and when I was done I thought ‘hmmm, is that it?’
On alternate days I’d like to still practice BW weight stuff(pull ups, push ups, lunges, planks, etc)
I’ll have to wait and see how that works as far as recovery goes.

OMGAWD. Just had a flashback of the time I ‘walked’ our half mastiff half lab on my rollerskates as a kid talk about a SCARY RIDE.
Adorbs pic.
And I think Im on to something with this moving more to burn “energy.”
Down a lb without changing eating much or restricting restrictively(lol)
yay!
That’s good news.
I have to do all my training fasted - I’m a super slow digester so I absolutely can’t have anything sitting in my stomach before exercise. But you’re right to be wary of IF. I know when I tried eating only in the evenings, I felt very cold during the day, ate like a horse when I got home and put on 10lbs. Exactly the opposite of what I’d been hoping to achieve with it.
LOVE THOSE PICS!! That looks like fun.
I can’t rollerblade worth shit, ha! If i had a dog with me I’d most likely be dead within 10 minutes…
Sounds like you’re on the right track with things now. Get that metabolisim (I can’t spell that word) all fired up!
Happy to see you benching!
FWIW my best dieting success (with decent T3 levels) has always been on many meals a day five or six…
Starting in the a.m. in fact my prior coach said to ALWAYS eat something before training he did not want fasted lifting (and I lifted EARLY in the morning) I def know of people who have had good success with IF. For Sure. Personally… feeding me works (obvi small controlled calorie clean foods but not starving myself and eating from dawn til dusk)
yeah, cute dog. i agree with nadia that your journey really is very inspiring. the problems you have had and the things you have overcome. there is a lot of fight in you.
Yay puppy pics!! Just what I needed. Oo have not gone rollerblading in AGES!!! I was briefly in a roller derby team, er but nothing special I was bullied into it for a couple of months. But there is nothing like the freedom of rolling along with sunshine & the wind in the hair. Yeah I’ve tried it with a dog, er just be careful.
cutie pics ![]()
I agree that eating a healthy breakfats is never a bad thing. Mine is only around 300 cals, but starts my day off right.
