Dig Through the Ditches

^^^ THAT’s AWFUL! It kinda bugs me just because it’s more about being HEALTHY, ya know? I know YOU want to lose weight and it is good for you, but you’re still probably healthier and in better shape than most people he sees in this day and age. Most people don’t go to the gym at all, dang nammit!

I think I posted yesterday and it got eaten. Totally forgot what I said.

Hi though.

I AM ALSO INCENSED! I mean thats the best a doctor can offer? What a fucktard loser. Add him to my list of heinous healthproviders fukkin lame ass.

Hmn if any consolation the only cardio I’m doing is walking… and guess who else is walking at my gym… all the bodybuilders. Thas right… walking is for bodybuilders so THERE.

As if more radical dieting will do your thyroid any favours. What a fucktard.

It’s cool Scj- I’ve been forgetting a TON of things lately.
It IS weird.
Hi!

Hallie- walking RULES!!!
ok, maybe not…buttfuckit. Diet is 80% of it all anyway.

Cal- I know, RIGHT? He didn’t even flinch when I mentioned it.

I swear military spouses get the shittiest care because the ‘network,’ provides the lowest quality Dr’s Maybe to save money??
I could get a second and third opinion but after that, you go outta the network.

Reminds me of song

Hey MiM!

Hopefully this will give you a chuckle

Gym:

Lat pulldown
Db C+P-
cable flies+standing presses
Band pullups- these aren’t getting easier  grumble

In between I tried some leg press and single leg press without any luck. Makes me mad. Also did swiss ball back ext…because anything else hurts my back  grumble

It’s like the less I’m able to do the more other parts are hurting.

walking program: week 1-day 4 complete

Damn frustrating…

You ever do ice baths?where you get 4 or 5 of those bags of party ice and dump them in a tub filled with cold water?

and he hasn’t specified a certain number of lbs for me to lose…just the generic, ‘you gotta lose some weight. And to do that you gotta do cardio until you slowly die some more inside and eat lettuce. And I’ll see you back in 3 months. Oh, and don’t forget to take your pills to block all the pain away. mmmmk?’

:frowning:

Pure & utter laziness from him! Makes me mad, er but I don’t know how to do a mad face.

This is my made face ;( or

My appointment went ok! That’s because it wasn’t the regular jerk face. It was his Physician Assistant guy.

He took the time to talk TO ME not AT me. He offered solutions and advice rather than lecture me.

We came to the conclusion that I’ve been babying myself.
I QUIT going to PT cause it hurt. The reason I was going to PT was because it was to help with the patellofemorral portion of my problem( knee cap not tracking)

I don’t know why but I guess I got the impression that I am to preserve what life I have on my knees and by not doing ANYthing was the best. WRONG! You know the old saying, Use it or lose it! Probably why my back is hurting more too.

No there isn’t a lot they can do for the chondromalacia(wearing away of cartilage) So YES anything I do beyond my normal activities is going to hurt. But I’m supposed to push.

No I shouldn’t be running. But “running,” on an elliptical is fine…it’s going to be uncomfortable but I’m supposed to ignore it. (for example)

BW squats are GOING TO HURT. I work up to it. If I can only do 3 before the pain is excruciating then I work up to 4 the next time, etc.

I get creeped out by the sound and feeling of my knees but I need to get over it.

Totally different tune I heard today.Hard to know which one to listen to.

Follow up is next month. He’ll also check my neck (referal or not!)

cortisone shots were also offered as a possibility…but they don’t sound pleasant. Also synvisc injections.
But really it’s all about doing the exercises to help keep the knee cap tracking.

So it’s party time in the gym!

I will have good days and bad days. Days that I initiate the movement and its just going to HURT. But the next day I gotta try again.

This sounds a lot better than lose some weight and take your pain pills!

I’m more inclined to think along the lines of motion is lotion. Hard to say, though. I have horrible crepitus in my knees which I ignore. Then again I have so many other problems that any pain I get in the knees seems pretty minor. If I trained around every ache and pain I have I wouldn’t be able to train at all.

Anyway, do what you can. Don’t do anything that gives you sharp pain, but achey pain you can usually get through. Good luck.

WELL it sounds like this doc visit was helpful and informative, so that’s good.

I always remember the title of some artice I read on here a long time ago that was called “do it till it doesn’t suck”. I tell myself that whenever I’m bad at something or whatever.

Maybe use that when you’re doing something that’s uncomfortably painful. Like, WELL, if I keep pushing through, eventually this wont hurt so much and it WONT SUCK.

ANYWAY, hello, and take care of yaself!

I miss lunges and HILL SPRINTS!!!

I also asked about taking glucosamine stuff and the verdict is out. Some people swear by it but there isn’t enough science based evidence to say.

I’ve taken it before and I thought I noticed a difference within the first two weeks(the loading phase) but no better/worse after that.

So I guess I’ll take it again if anything for the extra VIT D3 that I am low in.

Emmmm cortizone shots? I was getting them in my shoulder but was finally talked out of it. I don’t know though, maybe the guy was talking out of his hole when he convinced me. I was getting the shots near a tendon and was told it can weaken tendons.

The cortisone shots aren’t something I’m considering and the Dr just threw it out there as an idea for later.

The synvisc injections sound intriguing though.

Spock- I’ll try my best!! I’m conditioned to think now that if it hurts, don’t do it. I guess I was wrong?

That sounds good. I’d definitely go for that if it were an option.

Hey mimz… I saw your post in Hallowed’s log about Armour working for a week, then getting nothing out of it. It may well be that you just haven’t found the right dose yet. However, another theory would be that your body “adjusted”, meaning it felt the influx of new FT3, and decided it “needed” to upregulate RT3 production to compensate… since armour has T4 in it, it had ample T4 laying around to make more RT3 with.

Also, with hashi’s, even if you have the perfect dose of the perfect drug, you will feel alternatingly good and bad sometimes. Occasionally, as your thyroid is being destroyed, a wave of T4 can spill into your bloodstream, which your body hastily converts to FT3/RT3 and lots of screwy things can happen with your mood, energy, etc.

You aren’t gonna find the perfect drug and dose on your first shot (unfortunately), but you’re moving in the right direction if you feel better for any amount of time.

There’s a lot of wisdom in Cal’s posts (Cal, my crush on you grows stronger by the day!). If I tried to train around things that hurt, I’d do nothing. I also use the guideline that sharp pain is bad and must be tended to, anything else is just a part of being alive. I can’t remember the last time nothing at all hurt.

PA sounds like a winner.
