Difficulties in Achieving Orgasm

Again, doing some reading about dopamine and what increases dopamine (since we can agree that dopamine is GOOD for orgasm).

I found this thread from 2011 that no one posted on. Funny how different a few years can make since we are at 148 posts on this thread.

I looked at L-tyrosine. 500mg/day to start, increasing to 3x per day depending on results. Dopamine gains are short-lived; and it can cause havoc on other things … especially those with thyroid issues. Tyrosine is the #1 most mentioned method of increasing dopamin.

L-Dopa/Mucuna: Supposedly you need a supplement with 15% or greater of the extract to be valuable; 300mg per day. It also causes short-lived boosts, but comes with some nasty possible side effects. Benefits can last from 1-5 hours after taking. After 3 years, the body stops responding to it. Bad Side Effects.

Dosage: “Dosage for a pro-sexual effect is easier to determine for L-dopa and mucuna pruriens than for dopamine agonists. This is the case because a dosage that is too high will inevitably result in bad nausea. This nausea can be so bad that the last thing one fancies is sex.”

More: " Start with a dose of 250 mg of pure L-DOPA taken one time daily, with or without food. Work up to 750 mg to 1500 mg per day if necessary. Taking L-DOPA before sexual activity can increase libido and erectile quality."

Rhodiola is another of the Eastern Asian roots. My experience with “root herbs” hasn’t been good because there is no evidence to support that quality “roots” were used. From the internet: “Look for a rhodiola extract derived from Rhodiola rosea root and standardized to contain 3 percent total rosavins and a minimum 1 percent salidrosides.”

L-theanine is considered a “focus” and relaxation supplement; one study showed that it also increased serotonin in animals, which would defeat the purpose.

The main “natural” ways listed were:

  1. Eliminate Caffeine
  2. Decrease sugar intake as much as possible.
  3. Eat more bananas
    and I’ll skip all the standard “eat better”, “get more exercise”, “sleep more”, blah-blah.

I don’t find anything about the “cumulative” effect of the supplements being important. Which means, I wonder if you could take it in cycles to prevent the body from getting used to it.
