You’re 140 now, but I think when you hit 150 you should cut back down to 140. Do this 5 times and you’ll have abs and a V-taper. Finally, if the situation isn’t optimal then you’re better off just doing nothing. There is no reason to waste time working out unless it’s perfect. You’re 6 feet tall, under 140 pounds, and you’ve been trying to “get abs” for the last eight months.
So, no.
And to address your original question, the old saying “Everything works… for about six weeks” is true to a point. That’s why different people may get similar results with different methods. But the important thing to look for is what they’re doing that’s the same. There will almost-always be similarities on the most basic level.
Its perfectly alright , everyone else on the Beginner thread said that it was alright . Just because someone doesnt have a physique of a 170 pound man doesnt mean that hes not eating the required amount . Ever considered that i might just be eating the correct amount but still have a surpless of calorie usage ? iam sure u didnt consider that .
If you had a surplus of calories, your bodyweight would be slowly, gradually increasing. Nevermind the fact that a teenage male who lifts weights and eats properly should absolutely be gaining muscular bodyweight consistently and none-too-slowly.
Excuse me, smarty pants, but you showed up here on the site back in May looking for “Abs help.” That’s just about 8 months ago. Whatever nonsense you’ve been doing in the meantime, the bottom line is, you’re still trying to “get abs.” In all this time, you’ve gotten tons of great advice from some of the smartest guys we have on the forums… and you’re still in the position you’re in. That’s ridiculous.
At this point though, I’m with the rest of the guys. I’m not sure if you’re a super-ignorant young kid or a supertroll. Either way, good luck.

Hey man, I’m cheering you on. Get off of the computer, take some of the awesome advice that has been giving to you, and in a year lets see some results!

I remember several of us telling you, back in May, that you should start lifting. I was under the impression that you started very soon after. If not May, then at least by June.
As long as you’re making progress doing what you’re doing, good. I’m pretty certain you would make better progress by listening and doing what people are suggesting, but progress is progress.

yah true . you’re right . but it was it was july by the time i started . i wasnt putting it off or anything but i was having a board exam so i didnt have an option there . but after that i’ve been consistent without missing a single workout till december when my gym shut down .
Well i am making progress but not always in the way i want . well , for example i once got stuff trying to deadlift 25kg or some tiny amount , now iam up to 75 which is more than my body weight . but it doesnt really mean anything to me , nor do i have any physical results to prove it ! i’ve gained 10kg and lowered my body fat % but theres no way of noticing that either .
iam just trying to keep things increasing . and i do do what people say , provided that its possible . stuff like knocking rice off my diet in my country is just impossible . knocking water off my diet would be more reasonable -_- just making a point .
And anyways , i dont get what people are getting annoying for ! iam just clearing doubts , this is a forum for crying out loud ! and its not like iam slacking off or argueing about MY workout ! i just asked a simple comparision between workout styles and some wise-cracks bring in my posts that i made 8 months ago -_-

Nope. By mid-July you already “did start 5x5 and got no where” because you “had to deload a couple of times.”
It really wasn’t my intention to derail this thread. Seriously. The topic just strayed for a sec and I wanted to comment on the tangent. Siddhu, don’t take this the wrong way, but you are a completely typical young kid. Way overfocused on abs, way overthinking your training, totally underemphasizing your diet, and very quick to backtalk/disregard guys who are bigger, stronger, and more experienced than you.
But look, if you’re happy with whatever results you’re getting, great, keep going. Yay you. If you aren’t happy with the results you’re seeing, step back, ditch the ego, and re-read every thread you’ve posted. You’ve gotten tons of advice, and have come up with more than a few excuses, but every single useful piece of info to sort out your diet and training has already been given.

I’m not going to continue a name-calling match with a kid, so just know that you literally did say “i did my first weight workout today” on June 1. At the end of May, you also said you were working out “every single day for the last three years.” Given your age, not sure how much credit we want to give that, but anyway…
