Diet coke

did anyone else see the ad on tv for diet coke? it’s got a guy probably in his 30’s walking through a grocery store with his 2 little kids. I think it’s this guys wife who’s narrating. anyway, she goes on and on about how he used to workout and try to obtain what he thought was a sexier or better version of himself. but now he eats like shit, plays with his kids (which isn’t bad) and never lifts, of course now he drinks diet coke also. then his wife says, “he doesn’t know it, but the things he does now make him sexier than before.” any comments about that? personally it pissed me off.

That’s so cool! Hopefully it will convince millions of men to give up their pursuit of a better body and grow into fat slobs.

“In that day,” saith the Lord God, “there shall be hundreds of hot chicks for every T-dude. And I will bless them, and say to them, ‘Multiply greatly and fill many women with thy seed, and the earth with thy progeny.’”

stifbiz: In the background…couldn’t you hear that big Testosterone SUCKING sound, as that guy was being drained of his very last nanogram? :)----!

yep…let’s hear for all those aging, fat fathers out there! woo-hoo! i hate the mind games the weak play on themselves. yeah, i bet that hairy ass gut and sagging man tits are really damn sexy. how about the way he weezes as he lifts his jiggling ass up the stairs?–damn, damn sexy. it’s about not just rolling over and waiting to die…it’s about being strong. whatever…sorry about the rant.
you’re right. that whole ‘playing with the kids’ thing is alright, but the rest is damn lame.

i wish they would show what the mother looks like. i’m sure she’s narly, obese, and smells of fried foods. the hubby probably switched to diet coke cause it mixes better with 151, seein’ how he most likely has to get drunk if not narcotize his ass in order to find the narrative bitch unscummy enough to get an errection.

Hmm… I was always too worn out or lazy to play with my kids until I started working out. Now I actually have the energy to keep up with them.

I don’t care what anyone has to do in their week ANYONE can find an hour or two a week to exercise. with that said, when I have a family I KNOW there will be times when I will miss or have to change time, day, ect of workout due to family responsabilities, and I will not have a problem w/that. I will keep myself in shape to keep the quality of life I want and to live long enough to see my kids grow. when you have a family THEY MUST be number 1. and the way I understood the comercial(and I have not seen it in a while so I could be wrong) is that he has LESS time to workout, not that he does not at all, just that he sees other things as more important. just a thought

There is something mildly sexy about seeing a dad with his kids in the supermarket. Even drinking Diet Coke is passable. Not great, but OK.

But eating junk and not working out? What were they thinking? That’s it’s OK so long as you drink Diet Coke and play with your kids. That it will actually make you SEXIER than before! Are there really E-men out there that would actually fall for this line of crap? (I don’t know any)

I agree w/ hetey on this one I think the point of the comercial had less to do w/ not working out and more to do with the fact that his kids became his #1 responsibility and priority. And I am almost positive it doesnt mention him eating junk food anywhere.

I haven’t seen the ad, but the post says he “eats like shit”. That is either junk food or barely eating. Wait a minute…isn’t Diet Coke junk food? Hey, he DOES eat like shit!

The post may say it but I am saying the comercial doesnt.

The Ad’s main point is to show that her husband has shifted his life focus of constantly trying to look good for the sake of looking good(selfish) to a life focus making the raising of his kids his # priority.

Interesting points by all posters, however even if it is meant to be a positive message, it is PITIFUL!! A T-man finds the time to do all things, from being a father and husband…to taking care of himself. What type of role model do I present to my daughter if I am on the couch sucking down doritos, and diet coke, with a big gut and greasy tank top? A t-man FINDS the time to care for himself, after taking care of the wife and kiddies. This HAS meant that I have had to hit the iron at 11:30 at night at times when everyone else is in bed, or get up before everyone else is up…but it is PRICELESS when my daughter wraps her arms around me and says “Daddy will always keep me safe” or your wife gets told by her girlfriend how she wishes her husband was built like you…but he has put on weight, doesnt seem to care about his gut, is eating too much, etc…(we have all heard it, allong with the half dozen lame excuses the wife provides in her husbands defense…all of which sound hollow…even to her ears) Yes, you got to find time for all the important family things, but as T-men, we are GREATER then the average male wasting our precious oxygen by continuing to live. We balance all things, as well as take care of ourselves…giving us a much better approach to life! WE DO NOT ACCEPT MEDIOCRITY IN ANYTHING!!! So Diet Coke…STEP BACK!!!

If someone’s drinking pop, they can’t be on much of a diet can they?

Whopper for PRESIDENT!

For God’s sake. It’s a Soft Drink commercial!

The guy in the ad is not fat. So, when the wife is saying that his waistline isn’t what it used to be, one gets the impression that he hasn’t completely let go–just that his focus has changed.

Personally, I think the commercial is sending the message about reality-women are more concerned about stability and finances than sexuality. Look around you, notice how many gorgeous women are with fat slobs. do you think these guys are poor? I realize that the commercial makes no mention of the guy’s money situation but let’s assume he makes a very modest income. I bet she doesnt think he’s very sexy anymore. just one man’s opinion.

I didn’t see the ad but was curious to hear your opinions on the effectiveness of the ad?
(Diet Coke = altrustic/sexy man) Who’s swayed by this shit? At least beer commercials make me laugh!

Coca-Cola is just another corporate monolith trying to
brainwash you into associating their product (which has no
nutritional value whatsoever) with family values and goodness!
