Did TRT Improve How You Feel Mentally?

Started TRT one week ago, 100mg/week
My test levels was 9.3 nmol/L (268 ng/dl).

Feel like absolute crap most days despite training hard, eating right, getting plenty of sleep etc.

I was wondering if being on TRT helped you feel better mentally? Did it improve your mental health?

If so, how long did it take for you to notice the mental effect and changes?
I feel nothing at all after 1 week, should i be worried?

Most don’t really “feel” much. I think there’s a pretty big misconception about TRT in that you’re going to feel amazing and fast.

Most changes take weeks to feel, if not much longer.

I have found it to be the most frustrating medication Ive ever taken.

Are you being treated by a medical professional with this protocol? If so, are you able to meet with them and seek advisement?

Yes.

I still hear voices, but they are not as loud as they used to be :joy:

Yeah i am working with an online clinic. I am able to consult with them.

I just wanted to see what other people and their experiences with feeling better mentally on TRT an timelines etc

I have read a lot of stories on reddit where people who treated their low T had significant improvement in their mental health, depression, anxiety, etc

So why are you asking here, then? If you read so much, than you know that nothing happens in a week. And with time, for a lot of ppl trt is a game and life changer, for the better. Mentaly too of course. For some it happens fast, for some it takes a lot of time and protocol tweakings, for the rare it brings nothing. You just have to be patient.

Yes and yes, optimizing your hormones allows one to deal with stress better, have better memory recall and decision making. It’s not just testosterone that goes up on TRT, estrogen and DHT, both brain hormones are way more potent that testosterone.

For me the change happened within the first week, because the half-life of Jatenzo is 6 hours, steady states in 7 days versus the typical 5-7 day half-life of cypionate or enanathe and 4-6 weeks to steady states.

Your protocol is very reasonable, about average for a weekly dosage.

I was a non-responder to weekly and twice weekly injections, moving the injections interval closer together improved my response to TRT.

1 week into treatment is very early to be expecting results. Underlining health problems can increase the time it takes to start feeling good. Tell me how you feel after 4 months, and even 1 year, because this is the timeline you can expect to see significant changes.

Effects on sexual interest appear after 3 weeks plateauing at 6 weeks, with no further increments expected beyond. Changes in erections/ejaculations may require up to 6 months. Effects on quality of life manifest within 3–4 weeks, but maximum benefits take longer. Effects on depressive mood become detectable after 3–6 weeks with a maximum after 18–30 weeks. Effects on erythropoiesis are evident at 3 months, peaking at 9–12 months. Prostate-specific antigen and volume rise, marginally, plateauing at 12 months; further increase should be related to aging rather than therapy. Effects on lipids appear after 4 weeks, maximal after 6–12 months. Insulin sensitivity may improve within few days, but effects on glycemic control become evident only after 3–12 months. Changes in fat mass, lean body mass, and muscle strength occur within 12–16 weeks, stabilize at 6–12 months, but can marginally continue over years. Effects on inflammation occur within 3–12 weeks. Effects on bone are detectable already after 6 months while continuing at least for 3 years.

Conclusion

The time-course of the spectrum of effects of testosterone shows considerable variation, probably related to pharmacodynamics of the testosterone preparation. Genomic and non-genomic effects, androgen receptor polymorphism and intracellular steroid metabolism further contribute to such diversity.

Yeah i was just really curious because some people say they felt mental improvements almost instantly, which had me a bit worried.
I felt this place would have the most accurate answers as its a T forum
I guess i’ll just continue training, sleeping right etc and be patient as i can

Any improvements directly after a testosterone injection is it placebo, which can improve symptoms. After a few days you can feel further improvements, that can go away few weeks into treatment while your body adapts to exogenous T.

You’re not going to get definitive answers here, no one can predict how you’re going to respond to androgens.

Underlining health problems, mental illness can make TRT a little more challenging. The majority of men do not have issues on TRT and a small fraction of men do and you’ll find the right here on these forms, seeking answers.

It’s the fountain of youth.

Saved my life and my marriage.

I’m a better father, husband for it.

More energy
Sex life is on again
Happier (Its not magic but im definitely more normal- low T had me depressed)
Dont have to sleep after work every day.
Can exercise, recover and enjoy it now.

Life changeing.

Its not all brilliant all the time… but thats life!

I’d slipped into feeling like I was old, and waiting to die at 40 years of age before i started this treatment.

Awesome to hear it saved your life!
How long did it take for you to start feeling the positive changes?

In all honesty I felt the first shot. But I’d read up a lot and actually front loaded.

I had a dip at week 4 (natural production stopped).

Had issues with e2 and took a while dialling a very small amount if a.i in to keep it in check and I still dose that slightly dependent on feel.

I’d say after a year it was very apparent it had made a lot of positive changes and my wife insists that I dont really remember how ill I’d become before.
