Did Anavar Cause My Swollen Ankle?

Hey
Monday I started my anavar cycle.
I’m pretty lean, 10% bf. In the evening I noticed that my ankles are hurting and holding a lot of water.
The anavar is real. No winstrol!
I got the water only at my ankles. Could anavar cause something like that? Couldn’t find anything about that!

There are a few things that can cause edema in the ankle area.

What are you taking besides Anavar? I guess testosterone, how much? Are you taking calcium antagonist blood pressure medication? How is E2? Do you have/did you have a heart problem?

No there is no new variable in my protocol for 3 weeks, only the anavar. Yes I’m on test but I don’t bloat at all! I’m on 300 right now but as I said even on 600 no water retention. My blood pressure is 123/63 and 63 hr measured this morning after my workout. E2 was 40. I don’t know about any heart problem!

One way to test is stop the avanar. It has a half life of around 10 hours. Should be out of your system pretty fast. If the swelling goes away then you know. Don’t change anything else or you won’t know.

Oxandrolone
Clinical data:
Protein binding 94–97%
Metabolism Kidneys (primarily), liver
Elimination half - life Adults: 9.4–10.4 hours Elderly: 13.3 hours

Yeah I thought about it already and going to do this. But first I wanted ti ask you guys if you know something about it. Because it seems strange to me, really strange. I cannot imagine that after one dose I could get a renal problem…

Swollen ankles could be more serious issue and it also could not be shit - maybe just tired, too much salt, an extra time on your feet or just some fuckup our body can do.
No need to worry now - if it doesnt go away, stop anavar for a bit and see if its changes.

I havent heard of something like this from Var tho. Wouldnt really work as a bikini fitness steroid if all the babes would have swollen ankles

Anavar is known to trash your lipids, which would be a heart thing, I have not read anything about it affecting your Kidneys (primarily), and or liver When you get your blood tests do you check anything related to your kidneys(high creatinine), or liver functions ( ALT and AST tests measure enzymes that your liver releases in response to damage or disease. The albumin test measures how well the liver creates albumin , while the bilirubin test measures how well it disposes of bilirubin ?
I’d spend some time on Google investigating ankle swelling as it relates to your kidneys and liver. Taking the Anavar could just be a coincidence. Best of luck to you.

Though dyslipidemia has little to do with congestive heart failure. Water retention from cardiac abnormalities would theoretically indicate OP’s heart isn’t able to pump blood efficiently, thus blood can pool in the extremities. CHF also leads to impaired renal function, thus the body can’t adequately excrete sodium

Atherosclerosis to my knowledge can mediate renal scarring, but acute dyslipidemia isn’t going to causing ankle oedema.

Kidney disease can theoretically cause ankle swelling too… As can certain medications, low levels of albumin mediated through liver disease etc. Acute dyslipidemia won’t cause ankle swelling unless it triggers a heart attack or something.

An excess amount of blood lipids can cause fat deposits in your artery walls, increasing your risk for heart disease.

Over decades.

Heart disease doesn’t equate to CHF either. Plenty if people have some degree of coronary artery disease, sometimes even in their 30s and 40s. Coronary artery disease can be present without significant malignant remodelling and associated deterioration in cardiac function.

On the other hand, use of drugs like Anavar will make you more likely to develop CHF through direct effects on cardiac structure/function and through pro atherogenic mechanisms (dyslipidemia being one of them)

If you have a heart attack, remodelling quickly occurs. The fibrous tissue formed to replace dead cells post MI isn’t as elastic as non-damaged cardiac muscle. This coupled with inflammatory mechanisms can induce cardiac remodeling in which case if severe enough this could cause oedema.

what @unreal24278 said. If you push your thumb into your ankles and the indention sticks around for a bit, there is an issue, possible as already illustrated. Ankle edema does not happen without a cause.

Thanks guys for your replies!
my doc gave me yesterday a diuretic I took one pill. I’m from South Europe so the drug will be different to yours however if you want the name I’ll tell you.
The swelling is almost completely gone after one administration.
But I’m a bit concerned about what caused the swelling as said it could be nothing or it could be something serious. I think I have to check my blood to be sure. What tests should I do? Should I take this evening another diuretic?

I would check your liver and kidney functions. Here are a few to ask for.
