Actually, if you are paying for the service, any updates they give you stop being free. Funny how that works.
The WoW example was not to suggest how Blizzard was to pay for their new Batle.net servers, it was to point out that Blizzard is a business and their goal is to get users, like yourself, to give them money.
When the user base elects to give the company money they have not even asked for, that speaks more about your willingness to forfeit your money to them, than anything they intend to do for you.
The faults with Diablo 2 and cheats were faults with Diablo 2. Not Battle.net. Given better coding and design, we can expect Diablo 3 will be harder to crack and cheat with, regardless of how you connect for multiplayer games.
Also, I’m not even sure how this debate started. Battle.net isn’t exactly a game server, more of a connection protocol anyway.

Whatever, If you really think it will be anywhere close to the same quality for free as if it were p2p, I’m not even going to argue with you. I’m emotionally attached to the game series. I’ll pay extra for better.
Lets stop jumping up the gun on this being p2p. So far battle.net has been completely free. It may start costing money but we will see how things turn out.

d2 battle.net was shitty. I want to play this game on a new platform (bnetII), that due to being P2P offers better service, and faster game speed then what is possible on a non p2p network. I won’t care too much if it’s not p2p, but I’ll be mega pissed if I have to wait 30 minutes to start a game, waiting in line like the old days of d2. Get killed by people using mods, which rarely happened because most mod users sucked cock at dueling anyways, but dumb little kids thinking they were pro as hell for using AA/TMC on a hammerdin or other character pissed me off. I don’t want to deal with that shit in d3. And I’ll pay for it.

Oh. Well I never got problems like that, but then again I didn’t duel much.

Totally different situation. The pvp scene on d2 is and has been atrotious for years.
LoL. It got better eventually, i mean the “waiting for game” thing. I just hope they dont do the whole NO HELL RUSH routine, forcing us to level up slowly. =( i mean, it prevented normal players from experimenting with builds.
but hey, whatever. I’ve been waiting since a year after LOD. and i thought Hellgate (an epic fail) was the “revolutionary new diablo” since we destroyed him and his soul stone.
I Guess blizzard came up with what most people do when they run out of ideas for a sequel. “The constellations in the stars… bla bla bla… a comet that marks the doom of the world…”
The concept of D2 was genius though, i mean sticking a Soul stone in your head was the best move to do right? hahaha.
I love Diablo ! and 2 maybe two of the best games of all time. You have to remember that what we have seen has to be bright and shiny b/c they want to so off whats going on and the Music of Diablo sets the tone and gives it that grtty feel as the visuals do and we didnt get any of that.
Zep is right about the p2p discussion. $15 is NOTHING, anyone who acts like that is a lot of money should go get a minimum wage job for three hours a month. $15 to make the game more enjoyable, cheater free, have better server upkeep, have GMs on hand to help with issues ECt. is completly worth it.

I think that Cain is the best narrator type char ever and that Tyrael is one of the Best watcher type char ever. anyone read any of the Books?[/quote]
I’m probably buying the whole series over the next couple paychecks

yep, especially if they make bnet2 p2p for the whole thing, and be able to play wc4,sc2, and d3 with just buying the games and ONE small fee per month. That would just rock. Not to mention a M rated game with p2p will make parents less likely to buy online for their pre-teen kids.
$15 is about the same as WoW. $15 is nothing. But, it is the same price as most MMO’s! Diablo III isn’t an MMO.
Just keep in mind that by implementing a monthly fee, they would be eliminating many of the casual gamers who aren’t willing to commit all of their time into online play.

that’s not me, I don’t care. Just because someone pays 15$ a month to play a game doesn’t mean they dedicate all their time to it. That’s a huge generalization. 15$ a month is very little when you put it into perspective. I still think a 10 monthly fee for bnet2 would be the best route to go.

again im not to worried b/c that is earlygame play footage had to be “shiny” to show off the engine and what it could do as far as the environment + the music as much as the visuals if not more add to Diablos feel. Ill never forget the first time I played Diablo, I couldnt play with the lights off at night with the screams and everything else that would go on. Diablo has never been the best looking of games its the story, the quest, the acting and so much more than this visuals

Exactly, and let’s not forget Blizzard’s track record for churning out kickass games.
The fellas over there know what they are doing when it comes to making great computer games. I’m gonna trust that they won’t fuck this up.
