Warhammer Online - Embrace Thy Geekdom

After bagging out of World of Warcraft recently (ya hit level 70 and then suddenly it becomes a grind and not all that much fun), I was off the MMORPG kick for a bit.

Then I started hearing more and more about Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.

Well, dagnabbit… I bought it, I am playing it and just having a ton of fun with it. Looking to see what other nerds out there are doing the same. I only know one other person playing, so finding others from T-Nation to group up with and kick some geek ass would be cool.

I have a Shadow Warrior on the Mordheim server named Chyrelle if anyone wants to meet up.

I’m willing to try it, but I don’t think my laptop could handle it.

Give me some specs and tell me how much this game costs.

I’d be playing it if I hadn’t sold my gaming rig. I sold it on purpose so I would stop playing MMORPGs, I don’t have enough spare time anymore especially since I need to go back to school next semester. :frowning:

Why don’t you offer me some heroin while you’re at it?

I gave 7 months of my life to Warcrack last year, I’m not getting on another MMORPG any time soon. Hell, I didn’t even play as much as most of the gamers I know, but that was enough.

Edit: It looks kind of sweet though…must…resist…

I’m still hoping for a Vanguard resurrection :frowning:

Yeah Vanguard was a big disappointment. Was really hoping it would be the next EverQuest. I’m done with mmorpg’s for now though, I will never finish school or any of my other goals if I start playing again.

I have played way too many. EverQuest (this one sucked the most of my time by far), EverQuest 2, Lineage 2, WoW, Vanguard, Dark Age of Camelot, and I’m probably forgetting some…

I still totally miss EQ. Like that original awe-inspiring EQ, not the grind it out till you’re level 700 EQ.

Sorry for the hijack, back to WH.

I shouldnt have opened this thread…I can feel myself reverting back to the 13 year old me…

I couldn’t agree more…I believe the concensus is that Planes of Power is when EQ officially started to go downhill. :frowning:

LOL. The last game I played was Diablo 2. After I broke the addiction I swore to myself I’d never play another video game again. So far, so good.

I jokingly said to a friend that I used to play diablo with that we should get into Diablo 3 when it comes out. His response was “I’d have a better chance breaking a heroine addiction.”

You’re not alone.

This game is so good! Constant action of your choice (pve, pvp), no lame death penality so you can get right back into the fight. Me and a buddy are both playing two completely different ways and both leveling up equally. I’ve got an Ironbreaker (unjumpor) and Zealot (goodchance). If anyone wants to find anyone, check out the character search features on the Realm War site

It’s real easy to get addicted. I’m glad I work out at lunch during work away from my computer.

Dark age of camelot will always be the best mmorpg ever. i heard warhammer is good but just fun if you are a casual gamer, which is probably good for me because i dont want to go back to my old addicted ways.

I agree, planes of power was a good exp but after that man, everything just turned into chain quest grinds, do 10 instances to unlockt his, do 20 to unlock this, now take 36 people and do this raid, then take 60 and do that raid…

I really wish vanguard had gone better, and with changes made in the last big game update things are really starting to get retarded. I only play because many of my childhood friends still do.

I just started playing warhammer yesterday, chaos side, Chosen, even at level 6 rocks, I picked an open RvR server because I missed the chaos of pvp in MMO’s like back in the days of UO.

If you die you get a 15 min debuff that drops your stats and hp by 10%, every time you die another 10% is added. This can be cured by a healer for a few silver tho.

I hate you, you’re making me want to play!

And I concurr with the poster who said DAoC was the best MMORPG ever, when it came to PVP anyway. That game was the most fun PVP I have ever had, hands down.

EverQuest through Scars of Velius was probably my favorite for PVE content.

EverQuest 2 was a lot of fun and I played on a PVP server there, lots of battling the other sides for who was going to get the kill on bosses that were out in the open. In EQ2 I spent most of my time raiding and then going around with my buddy killing entire groups of people from the other factions whenever we weren’t raiding, lol.

Oh and I almost forgot - World of Warcraft completely sucked balls once I hit 60. That game didn’t last too long b4 I was bored.

I know the feeling. I hit level 70 (the top end level before Wrath of the Lich King comes out) and you think you could feel like a top dog… oh, except it is all about gear so there are TONS of level 70’s out there who completely outclass you. So how do you get to be like them? Grind ENDLESSLY over months to pick up bits and pieces of top level gear. UGH. No thanks.

The game is $49.99 and the subscription is about $14 or $15 a month (less if you pay for a block of months at a time).

Specs required:
XP or Vista
2.5 GHz P4 processor
1 GB RAM (2 GB for Vista)
Big looooong list of video cards - too long to type.

The game is pretty fun even if you want to be more casual, so that is what I like about it thus far… that and the fact that when playing realm vs. realm, I am completely smoking people. Winning is always fun.

Lol man I fucking quit soooooo long before the expansion for level 70. When I quit 60 was top level and people were barely starting to do Molten Core, it bored me that quickly! lol

WAR sounds like so much fun, I want to play so bad. But the lack of time, and I’d have to build a new gaming rig b4 playing too…lol

LoL has anyone else here played Warhammer with the little models? I used to collect them. It was pretty fun painting and putting together the guys, but going to the gathering of nerds to play the game was too much for me.
