Dextrose For Pre & PWO Shake

I’m interested in adding dextrose to my pre and pwo shake. I already use maltodextrin (about 50g) + protein (25g), but i’ve read that malto + dextrose is better for carbs than just malto. Anyone know where I can buy a good dextrose powder??

There is no need for both.

A chemist was telling me that yes, the 2 combined are better as they form glyogen and have the effect your looking for.

i wasnt listening 100% though, hes a mate and i kind of tune out on his sciency stuff.

This is not quite right.

Both are broken down into glucose before being transported into the Skeletal Muscle and made into glycogen.

The role of dextrose and maltodextrin in the training window is first to trigger a massive release a insulin and secondarily to replenish glycogen.

The reason a combination of dextrins is superior to dextrose alone has to do with the rate of absorbtion of different oligodextrins.
You do need a thorough understanding of biochem to get into why, .

You should use 2-1 dextrose to maltodextrin. How much total depends on your insulin sensitivity, leanness, training goals, etc…

To answer your main question…
You can buy dextrose from breweries or specialty baking goods stores.
Breweries are generally cheaper.

I have used both mixed together and by themselves. Unable to notice anything different.
