Developing Gout on TRT?

Hi All,

I have been on TRT for about 7 years now. I was wondering if anyone else with lengthy TRT time has developed gout? I had my first attack about 2 years ago. I don’t drink and and don’t eat any food on the high purines list. Not really sure how this developed? I did find this:

Are you overweight?

I would think if TRT was going to cause gout it would have done so early on and not 5 years after going on TRT. People get gout who are not on TRT. If TRT is the cause gout it is dose dependant.

Also TRT does elevates serum uric acid levels in patients with female to male gender identity disorder.

systemlord,

Yes I found several articles about the identity disorder thing. I don’t have that problem. In fact I don’t relate to that problem at all. Haha The ncbi website seems to be down at the moment. I searched for “TRT and gout.” The top hit was from the ncbi website titled. " Association between Sex Hormone and Blood Uric Acid in Male …"
I an just curious if anyone else had developed the same problem. I am dosing 125mg T per week with .25 mg AI 3 times per week or as needed. I am quickly approaching 50 years old, so it might just be the age thing. I have had joint problems starting around age 10. I was diagnosed the low T at age 19. This was before the internet. So my endocrinologist put me on 200mg every 3 weeks…which sucked. I came off it after about 1.5 years because my doctor didn’t tell me anything about symptoms of low T or any side effects of T. This was also before the patch or gel.

Yes, I could loose 10-15 pounds. Was going to go on a restricted carb diet soon. That is the only diet that has ever worked for me. I was walking/running quite a bit, but that is hard to do when gout flares up.

Based on your username I didn’t think you did have a gender identity disorder, the name suggests you had high testosterone at one time.

I threw that out there in case someone visits this thread who does have a gender identity disorder and a similar problem.

Hey Systemlord, glad to see you still helping ppl  It would be really interesting if someone does that test and he checks his blood for example when he is off and then when he is only on Test for urine acid lvls. I would really like to know this, because I just found out I have gout and I was just about to go back on TRT
