Yes, fuck the american middle class when they think they deserve outlandish retirement, making 20+ dollars an hour to pull a lever or watch parts go by on a conveyor belt, and for the company to keep making profits. It is just business. Has nothing to do with being patriotic or not.
There is a group in MS trying to push for minimum wage to be raised to 15$ an hour. Up from 7.25.

1968 was the year where minimum wage had it’s greatest level of purchasing power. Equivalent to $12.50 today. So the country was better off over 40 years ago. It ought to be raised to at least that level.
I doubt it will ever pass, but if it does. I know a lot of small business will be closing or firing a large part of their staff. As will larger businesses.

The reasoning I heard is 15 dollars in an hour is “living wage”. I was standing at line at the bank and a woman in front of me was making comments that 12.50 an hour doesn’t cut it. “They gonna have to do something because I can’t make it on 12.50 an hour.” She went on to say she had 5 kids and none of her babies’ daddies helping her. Well no shit dumbass you can’t make it with 5 kids, no father around, and making 12.50. Close your fucking legs. I don’t get where people expect everything to be changed for them and to meet their needs. Take responsibility for your actions or lack there of.

I have heard economist Richard Wolff say this.

Here is an article that claims minimum wage adjusted for inflation should be 10.74. As usual there will be some discrepancies due to factors used to find out the numbers. But I’m sure most people would be okay with this. And it dates back to 1956. Folks ought to have the purchasing power they did 40-40 years ago. And this only puts them at the same level with no gains.

Some people will loose their jobs while other will gain work. A higher wage is equal to more discreionary spending which creates more demand. You can’t look at it from one side.

I am not sure if you are for real , but $20 an hour is middle class . If you do not make $20 an hour , you are a chump
It’s relative you clown. $20/hour might allow you to get by in some places, but if you live in an area where Democrats have driven the prices up to pay for such lavish public worker salaries and benefits, you’re fucked without lube.

That is why you are always better off having a lower cost of living, rather than demanding for a higher earning. Your dollar will always go farther when things are cheaper, and you’re not in as bad of a bind if you lose your job, get your hours cut, or get laid off.

My observations from people who left my area due to better job opportunities is that, they live a much better quality of life while making less overall money.
Coming from the man who’s brain is the size of his penis , We need a high minimum wage to bolster middle class . This trickle down economics is not working unless you are super wealthy. The supply side economics has run it’s course and now because no one is making money, no one can spend money and that is a summary of our eceonmy

But minimum wage shouldn’t be living wage…this is entry level jobs…stuff that first timers (16 year olds) would be doing…not people who are trying to make a living.

Well when you want to spend 300-400 dollars every month getting your nails and hair done and have 5 kids… I was standing there listening to her drone on and on while she is texting on an Iphone 5. I make far more money than she does and I don’t even have an Iphone 5. I could if I really wanted too, but I choose to invest in things you know like my future. Nothing is ever anyone’s fault anymore. It is always, I should be paid more, spend less on fruitless things? NO NEVER. Take care of your bills and responsibilities first? HA YEAH RIGHT. Detroit isn’t a steel town, it’s Auto City. You can’t blame Reagan for making it prohibitively expensive to run a business in Detroit. If anything he made it easier to make cars in Detroit. Still defaulted.

Yes, it is a steel producing town. Mac steel is one of the largest producers left in the country.

The greatest cause of the cities problems are it’s legacy costs for pensions, the model of which most cities have based their pensions on. Detroit is but the first. Yes they have had a population decline, but underfunded pensions coupled with very low interest are what drove them into the ground.
