My butt came off the bench with the reverse band work. According to my coach, Stronghold, I need to set my feet back further. Further, as in towards my shoulders. It should also add to my stability on the bench since my lower body is shaking some much.

c. Ab Wheel - 3x10-20

Incredible bench. I can’t wait for you to break the 5,000lb mark!

Strong stuff in here.

I may or may not have been wearing a super duper mega slingshot when I did said 4255lbs.

Done training for the meet. Now time to rest and prepare mentally for the meet.

March 23rd can’t come soon enough.

Meet went pretty well. I weighed in at 215lbs. Went 7/9

Squats

  1. 565lbs - Good Lift
  2. 615lbs - Good Lift, 5lb PR
  3. 635lbs - Good Lift , 25lb PR

Bench

  1. 375lbs - Good Lift - 5lb PR
  2. 400lbs - Good Lift - 30lb PR
  3. 410lbs - No Lift, Gassed

Deadlift

  1. 600lbs - Good Lift
  2. 665lbs - Good Lift, 5lb PR
  3. 700lbs - No Lift, Gassed

I totaled 1700lbs, which is a 40lbs up from October. My two misses on the bench and deadlift I feel are more from fatigue rather than the weight being too heavy… if that makes any sense. Had the stars been lined up perfectly for me yesterday, I feel that I ahd more than a fighting chance to get either the 410 bench or the 700 pull. The strength is there, I just need to show up next time. As for right now, I’m taking the next few months as an offseason and get back into shape and work on my weak points. My gym, Total Performance Sports is holding in a meet October 12-13, that’ll most likely be the next meet I’ll do.

I’m enjoying my meet performance for today, but tomorrow it’s back to this:

Congrats! Strong lifting

Strong! I don’t think you meant to do this, but you posted your opener deadlift twice instead of your first and second attempt. Either that or you made 660 look like a childs weight and mislabeled your video.

Opening up with a 5lb PR on the bench? I like it.

Awesome!

Thanks for spotting that out for me! I fixed it and now have the right video for it.

Yeah, I was happy I finally hit the 400lb barrier in a meet, I’ve done 405 touch and go before, but I don’t really count gym lifts as PR’s.

Some fearless choices on lifts! Nothing like a PR opener!

Technically, it was a meet PR, I’ve hit 385 during this training cycle, but I don’t count gym lifts, since the only thing people will know is what you do at a meet.

Just went through your thread and saw the link on block periodization. I’ve been looking around for ideas on how to improve my training and it’s exactly what I needed. Thanks! And congrats again with your meet!

Thank you for the kind words, and I hope the Block Concept will treat you well. Keep me posted on how you’re doing on it!

First day of Offseason training, feels good to be back in the gym

  1. Chest Passes - 15 reps
  2. Bench Press -

235x5
270x5
305x5

  1. Military Press -

115lbs 5x10

  1. CSR - 5x10
  2. DB Curls - 3x10
  3. Band Pushdowns - 3xfailure
  4. Facepulls - 3xfailure

Anyway, one of my training partners looked up the current American Men’s Lifter Rankings for Top 220 Class Raw Male Lifters, once they update the list, my total will put me at #29 in the country.

I thought that was cool.

You doing 531 for a few cycles? Whats CSR?..cable side raise. Congrats on the ranking!

I’ll be going back to 5/3/1, but the plan is going to be this:

Months 1-3: BBB 3 month Challenge
Months 4-5: Offseason For Strength (from 5/3/1 for Powerlifting)
Months 6-7: Pre-Meet Training to Meet Prep (from 5/3/1 for Powerlifting)

CSR is short for Chest Supported Rows
