I would really appreciate any insight you may have to my blood tests, for the past two years I have been feeling dreadful and countless doctors have no idea what to do. I’m literally on the brink and thought I would try here because you guys seem to have a strong knowledge on hormones.
So to start things off, I used to take propecia for like 5 years, my scalp continued to itch so I took a zinc tablet, my scalp has never been this calm so every time my scalp itched I took a zinc pill (extremely stupid I know but I was desperate to start the itch) anyway, I started noticing my hands going extremely dry, and the only thing that would stop this was drinking soya milk. I also started developing flushing around December 17, I stopped taking the zinc then and my dry skin started improving, then in April 2018 I was so sick of the weird hormonal flushing that I was still having on occasion I stopped with the Propecia, within 4 days my hands and knuckles went insanely dry and my neck burnt up really badly. Luckily the hot neck seems to be a thing of the past but my hands are still very dry, not only this, my other symptoms are insane anxiety and depression, crying and chronic tiredness.
Any thoughts what may be happening, I always suspected the Estrogen as I know now that zinc blocks the conversion and maybe the fact that my dht has gone back to normal means the E isn’t getting free reign of my body anymore however my oestrogen is in the normal range, unfortunately we can’t get the sensitive test in the UK. I’m really struggling on interpreting my results and how to stop my symptoms from getting worse as over the last 2 years I have slowly neglected my wife due to this and I really don’t want to lose her, just want my health back!
It sounds like you are suffering from Post Finasteride Syndrome caused by Propecia for which there is no known cure. In PFS gene expression between tissue has changed and is why there are symptoms. Those suffering from PFS have acquired form of secondary hypogonadism and post-drug loss of androgenic action, which remains highly resistant to hormonal treatments.
just Chronic dryness of the skin is the main physical symptom, which doesn’t sound too bad but its debilitating as I can’t use my hands like I used to, they just get tight and uncomfortable.
My problems were not from the Propecia, they started when I took the Zinc, can you see anything wrong with my bloods ?
