Hello everyone, new user here, i would like to tell my story and if its possible get any help from you.
So i took for 6 weeks finasteride for hair loss ( first 4 weeks generic and the last 2 weeks propecia)
without any libido side effects except for faster heart rate and slight left chest pain sometimes.
At 4 weeks i start noticing face lines and dry skin that i didnt have before and i stopped taking it at 6 weeks because it was getting worse.
Now its been 4-5 months since i stop taking it and my skin is getting worse every month with more face lines, skin thinning under eyes, dry skin, dark circles and the last month now i developed rosacea with large pores and some small pimples.
So i decided to have my hormones tested a month ago do i have secondary hypogonadism?
What do you suggest to do?
Total testosterone: 12.47 nmol/L = 359 ng/dl
E2 (not sensitive): <10 pg/ml (11-44)
Cortisol: 601 nmol/L (138-690)
Lh: 1.16 IU/L (1.24-7.8) internet range
Fsh: 2.26 IU/L (1.5-12.4) internet range
Prolactin:308 mIU/L (73-407)
Progesterone: 0.6 nmol/L (0.32-3.18)- internet range
DHEA:6.93 ÎĽmol/L (0.50-16.10)
Δ4-androstenedione: 5.3 ng/ml (0.6-3.1)
SHBG: 19.0 nmol/L (13.0-71.0)
TSH: 4.01 mIU/L (0.35-4.94)
Free T3: 3.04 pmol/L (2.63-5.70)
Free T4: 13.16 pmol/L (09.00-19.05)
T.P.O antibodies: 0.3 IU/ml (<5.6)
Vit D-25OH: 21 ng/ml (10-56)
I also forgot to tell you that i gained some fat on stomach and chest, mostly left chest dont know if its gyno, and i cant lose it . I am exercising with weight training for years and i watch out my diet and never had any problem losing fat except now that i am stuck after finasteride.
Test seems to be low.
E2 is also low
Cortisol and prolactin fairly high but under “normal” range.
Other more experienced members will be able to offer more advices, my advice would be to try to boost your T level for start.
Stuff for hair loss often crashes DHT, but unfortunatley DHT is important factor in your body. Especially for your cardiovascular health.
Some sources even link finasteride with male breast cancer so definitley check that fat on your chest.
Just common googling on side effect of Finasteride are more than enough for me to run away from it.
I’m 22 and already losing hair, so I feel your pain. But only supplement I’ll ever take for it is stuff like Zinc.
No trt, never on drugs before, 29 years old, and these results are caused after propecia. Low test, e2, lh,fsh, high prolactin. I think my dry skin and face wrinkles are from low estradiol. Also tsh is high. I dont know what to do to correct all the hormones.
Thyroid is terrible and only Reverse T3 can explain elevated TSH, not tested. Doctors aren’t interested until you’re completely f*cked and will not touch those who are in range with symptoms (disease management). T3 is obsolete, should be testing Free T3.
T4 is (inactive) a nice test and is total thyroid hormones being produced by the thyroid, but not free and not the end result, it’s the beginning of a long process moving towards free thyroid hormones. You should be testing Free T3, Free T4, Reverse T3.
Nothing matters more than your location, outside the US treatment is sometimes worse than the cure, doctors have trouble understanding hormone related issues do to the medical community largely ignoring hormone therapy for the last few decades. Now do to world wide hormone related declines it is forced upon them.
DHT affects the skin and Finasteride has likely permanently changed the way DHT interacts with the skin. Low thyroid function also affects skin and can lead to hair loss. Low estrogen can also dry your skin and cause eye inflammation do to dry eyes.
If in Europe getting TRT with those numbers will be a challenge, low E2 should alone get you TRT since bone loss (osteoporosis) is expected with lower levels.
I make a mistake in typing , i tested free t3 and free t4 and not total. Yes you are right about doctors and thats why i dont trust anyone here to help me. I am also in europe which is more difficult. What else you suggect except trt?
High Reverse T3 negates good Free T3 levels, Reverse T3 and Thyroglobulin Antibody need to be ordered. There’s no good reason to wait until TSH reaches 4.95 mIU/L, that’s like trying to diffuse a bomb when the clock is already zero. The time for action is now…
So you think the problem is in the thyroid and if i correct it the other hormones gonna be corrected too? Or i have to do something else for the others? Also these 2 days i noticed that my balls skin sagged and i have slight discomfort near the right ball, is that because of the low t?
There are those who have taken finasteride who have corrected the hormone imbalances who feel no different, it is believed finasteride could be responsible for deactivating or causing receptor damage. There are some who have continued to see a progression of symptoms long after finasteride is stopped. It sounds like your symptoms are continuing to progress.
I would try to find a doctor who is treating patients with PFS.
It’s not possible to raise estrogen without TRT, we guys convert testosterone into estrogen. You don’t have enough testosterone to convert to estrogen. To lower TSH you need thyroid treatment. Prolactin is fine.
I noticed lately increasef chest fat especially in left chest. No pain, no sensitivity and i think no lump.
What might be the cause? Estradiol is low and prolactin not that high, still in the range…
@KSman sorry for tagging you but i see that you know about this stuff if you can help
