Haven’t been running, so I’ve plumped back up, but not missing workouts, just busy AF and have forgotten to write shit up on here. Big lifts recently have been:
Bench: 315 x 2 (first time since I hurt my pec about 3 months ago)
Squats: hit 315 x 10 last week and 315 x 12 this week, pushing for a top set of 20 x 315, I think that’d be cool
OHP: 3 x 215 (most since I passed out with 225 overhead awhile back haha)
Quit running for awhile, mostly laziness, but back to walking on a treadmill with a weight vest for 20-30 minutes a couple times a week. Going to start running again soon, once a work schedule gets nailed down. The bench is feeling good again, probably had another couple sets of doubles, but I’m being real cautious with my pec, not sure if I need to focus on flies to strengthen that area or what, but been diligent with band work and shoulder health work. Going to try and log more regularly again, as I miss the community.
Did back yesterday, with no deadlifts anymore, it’s not worth writing about haha
Today was chest.
Top Set 1 x 345
Buddy and I just went rep for rep with 20 lb jumps starting at 225, today honestly felt solid, felt like a 365 day, but in so wary about hurting that pec again that I didnt want to really hammer it. So if anyone has some decent movements for strengthening that outer pec area, it’d be greatly appreciated. Doing high rep machine flyes and band work, lots of shoulder health stuff as well.
Nothing like a humble reminder that moving 90%+ is a skill and not just muscle haha felt good, very taxing, forgot how to stay TIGHT tight coming out of the hole, muscle is still there, just need to get back in the habit of doing all the little things right. A good reminder.
Different gym, different workout time, usually messes me up a little bit as far as focus/strength, but that one was solid. Had planned on 3 sets, but erred on the side of caution. 365 is the short term goal and 405 at 225 is the long term goal, but that’s going to be a pull.
Felt fine, wasn’t too much of a push to get it for 3, seriously contemplated hitting 225, but still a little gun shy, ha. It’s there physically, I have no doubt, but mentally… still easing into it
Yo, fuck squatting with a Texas squat bar there is absolutely zero whip to that thing and it is thicker than a snicker, talk about getting used to it, 325 felt like 365, but leg day got done, as usual, in a new gym environment I feel like I have to ‘prove’ myself so all these lifts have gone great
