Derailed - Setting a New Course!

The vid was in slow mo for me!

Great work none the less!!

I enjoy reading about your karate…My son has been wanting to get into it and I think it would be good for him! I used to take Kung Fu a million years ago and LOOVED it.

So if he does it, I want to do it again too! Maybe next year when the Hubby gets back. My plate is pretty full right now!

yeah for chalk - you will love it. plus it will improve your grip for when you do forget chalk. I know by experience.
happy lifting.

So jealous, if my gym had these… sigh

If you’re not on too tight of a budget, what about ordering a pair from EliteFTS and bringing them along to the gym to use? They are very portable - attach them to a chin-up bar and you’re good to go!

Last night the usual 3 hrs karate. I felt blah and tired, but I did a few rounds of light sparring with the adults. It is challenging to fight people who can use kicks when I can’t, so I was really focusing on getting in tight and staying inside those kicks.

Oh and I picked up some chalk finally for deadlifting tonight.[/quote]

Wow $52 isn’t bad!

Heh heh, wait til I get them, everyone’s gonna be so jelly

If you do get them, put a dab of oil or some other lubricant (my bf used PAM lol) in the handles or the squeaking will drive you (or the jealous gym goers) crazy!

Chalk = awesome

No problems with grip tonight, but everything felt so heavy tonight and my shoulder was nagging a bit when I tried to do RDLs. My upcoming deload week will be much needed I think.

Blast Strap circuit x 1

DL
Warm-ups
5@65, 5@85, 3@100
Working Sets
5@125, 2@140, 4@160 (rep PR +1)

RDL
7@95 - quit because my shoulder didn’t like the weight hanging from it. Not too concerned, I probably just over exerted a bit at karate last night. Moving on…

Leg Curl
10@35
10@45 x 3

Front squat
10@50 x 3

Then I just played around with some random movements I’d do regularly in dodgeball like dropping to my knees from standing, or low side lunges. I also threw my crazy bouncy reaction ball at the wall and chased it around a bit.

Finished with 35lb plate push across the basement and back
3 x 4 30s rest between sets.

I’m looking forward to my day off tomorrow. No work, no lifting - just nice quality time with my man.

you got a PR with the chalk and a bad shoulder. I predict more good stuff to come.

Something tells me that it won’t be so much of a rest day, maybe some cardio, perhaps? Heh heh

oh dude I’m late to the video party. I must say I enjoyed that video immensely. For some reason I felt like I got a lot out of watching your form. O and your hair looks cute!

^^x2 I somehow missed that huge box.

I saw it in slo mo, but it looked cool so no biggie. It gives the “Ahh shit, this cool-haired chick is about to do some shit” then you do 105 for 11 reps and it’s just confirmed.

Great benching!! The vid is awesome. I suck at bench, so I can’t give you any form pointers, and frankly, it looked good to me, so yeah…def cute hair!

Your weighted chins make me so SO jealous. Super bad ass!! Keep it up woman!

Hahah Nikki, you’re too right!

For the most part it was fairly restful. We spent most of the day putting up Christmas lights and playing video games. Though later in the evening my bf lifted while I pretty well ran around the basement with no rhyme or reason - just doing athletic movements.

15" box jumps
Quick foot work stuff
rolling around
dropping to my knees
running backwards

If I was in a commercial gym I probably would have made the SRC thread!

And thanks for all the compliments! I’m going to revitalize the purple in my bangs this weekend - it is getting really faded… and my goal will be to avoid getting purple dye anywhere but my hair.

Friday training:
Blast strap circuit x 1
Broomstick dislocations
5 min bike

OHP
Warm-ups
5@30, 5@40, 3@50
Working sets
5@60, 3@70, 7@75 (rep PR +1)

DB OHP
10@20s x 5

Squat
10@55 x 5

Ez curl
8@50 x 3

Plate push
41lbs x 3 x 4sets 30s rest between sets

Not quite my normal workout. My bf and I were conflicting in our use of equipment, so I just used what was available. Though it was a solid end to a good week. I’m looking forward to the deload then hitting it hard the following week!

Hi, I’m just catching up with your log (and skimming it really fast). Did you hit your BW bench goal? Did I miss that. You should go for it. 10 at 110 tells me its in the bag now!

a press PR - good stuff LS.

I haven’t gone for it yet. I should go for it. The numbers say that I should be able to, but I guess I’ve just been so comfortable doing 5/3/1 and trying to hit my rep PRs every week. My plan is to test my 1RM at the end of my next cycle which would be mid December. I’m going to add some heavier singles at the end of each week to get my body used to pushing the heavier weights. Hitting that goal would be a nice little Christmas present.

I had a pretty uneventful weekend training-wise, nothing worth logging anyway. I just worked on athletic movements and threw the dodgeball around with my bf.

I’m going to play some dodgeball tonight against our division’s last place team. Should be interesting as it is a fairly new team. I’ll have to really watch my head. With new teams it seems the guys are all about power and no accuracy. I’m totally getting cold feet again though…

Competitive, powerful males and dodgeball don’t mix.
Good luck. You have no reason to have cold feet though, you’re a beast.

And congrats on that OHP PR… sheesh.

You’re right - no reason for the cold feet! It was a great game. We slaughtered them though. The game was done before half, 9-1 mercy rule. So we played fun games for the rest of the hour. My knee felt solid. They were a fun team to play though, they took themselves pretty lightly.

Funny quote from the night

Opposing guy to our team “I want a drug test, no I want a hormone test!”

We exchange glances and roll eyes.

(I wish I could take credit for this) One of my teammates answers, “Well I’m pretty sure you’re not a woman, but if you insist.”

On the lifting front - before the game I did some light benching
5@45, 5@60, 5@70

And my bf and I threw the ball around. We had our first casualty of dodgeball throwing in the house. Knocked our gym clock off the wall and shattered the glass. It took us a while to vacuum everything up.

On the upside - the clock still works and there is no more glare on the glass.

Geez 9-1? Were they catatonic?

LMFAO, awesome comeback

I love how you find the silver lining in the cloud haha

Haha you would think right? Naw they just haven’t grasped the teamwork aspect yet. There were many single throws - they were hard throws, but right to the sweet spot most of the time. Our team is made up of some of the best catchers in the league, so we pretty well ate them alive. Nom nom nom!

Forgot to post this - I’m a total numbers nerd

HRM stats from the game
time played: 55:16
avg bpm: 158
max bpm: 191
time spent over 130 bpm: 49:54
calories burned: 479
^^I don’t take much stock in this number but it is fun to compare from game to game

In short - my kinda cardio!

Ah dig the numbers! What HRM do you have? I’ve been shopping but have yet to pull the trigger.

I have a Polar FT4. It is a pretty basic entry level HRM, but it does the trick for me.
