Demigod before 35 (Aldebaran)

Man if I had the money right now I’d buy it in a heartbeat!

In the meantime I devised something fun:

4 first week:
• Monday: Legs
• Tuesday: Push
• Thursday: Back
• Tuesday: Push
• Saturday: Back and Legs

Following the “Beast building” protocol devised by CT and used by Martins Licis: first week max sets of 3 reps at 80% in 20 mins, 2nd week sets of 2 at 85%, week 3 sets of 1 at 90%, week 4 deload, so something like that:

A. Lying Leg Curl 2 x 10 with 3 secs eccentric

B. Squat 20 mins max sets of 3 at 80%

C. Reverse-Band Hack Squat 1 x 10, 1 x 10 + 5 + 5 cluster

D. Walking Lunges 2 x 20

E. Good Morning 3 x 10

F. Calves on Leg Press 1 x Cluster 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5

But I’ll probably change things a bit, I want to put in some carries and abs combo

Then four weeks incorporating lots of speed work with variations, (bench 3+3+3 using close, wide, regualr grip, DL 6+6 using deficit, regular, Rack Pulls, Squat, Box Squat)

I’m thinking that technique work either using strength-skill, EMOM or speed work + hypertrophy is the way to go for me.

I LOVE heavy lifting but my CNS burns too quickly and I can’t just power through shit

Wait for Memorial Day at least (last weekend of May here) - he typically does 1/2 off sales

I like your plan! I’m trying to grind through my last few weeks of what I’m doing without getting distracted!

Thanks!
I’ll start doing this.

You ever read that quote from Wendler:

People are not attracted to vanity – they are attracted to confidence, passion and life movement. No one owns a room by the way they look; it’s how they carry themselves. There is so much more to this, but PLEASE don’t talk about your love handles. Act on your passions in life, move boulders, read, be polite, further your education, minimize personal and financial debt and take ownership of every part of your life

This is what this post reminded me of, and what your whole attitude recently reaks of. Its awesome to see.

Literally just did the same thing!

No I had not, and thank you! You know guys you helped me see my flaws and act on them and try to become a better person.

It’s always the love handles :joy:

I was listening to a bodybuilder and he said that people like us that do this sport and are self-conscious should learn to accept a compliment for the hard work we’ve done. Not deflect by saying something like “thanks but my arms have been lagging” or something. Just thanks, no buts! No buts! I like this.

Trying to shed the negative thoughts away. It’s hard right now with the crazy workouts, stress and dieting down, because I can get snappy with the fatigue. And I’m usually snappy at myself. been playing some video game with the mate because I have more time right now and my friend was telling me that I was too hard on myself. It’s true, I’m very ahrd on myself. Trying to focus on the positive actions there, as well as in real life. Because it’s the same mindset after all.

Your post on your log about the backhanded compliment made me think about something as well. Not really the same thing, but an attack as well. Last summer I was at some kind of club and I was going outside with a friend but I had my drink, and you can’t go out with your drink. So the bouncer says it’s forbidden and I say “oh sorry” and I go back in to drink it. And then he says something like “I knew you were a pussy”. I was shocked at first but then I brushed it off. I mean, if bouncers feel threatened, I’ve won :joy:

03/05 - Colossus - Pull 1

Smith-Machine Rows

Pull-ups

Meadows Rows

Barbell Shrugs

Straight-Legs Sit-ups

EZ Bar 21’s

Incline Curls

Loving the smith rows, they do feel way better than regular barbell stuff. I felt weak on the shrugs, only using 140, but I had not done these ina long tiiiime

Decided to get crazy and use the barbell for the curls this time and it felt good, but well with 21 reps you can’t use a ton of weight anyway

Meadows’ approach of doing 7 high partials, 7 full reps and 7 low partials juste makes way more sense.

I have no idea of my weight, because the scale is broken again lol, but here’s an ab shot from today, and it looks like the almost kilo of chocolate I ate this weekend (yeah I really did overdo it lol) didn’t do much damage but some water fluff on the back/serratus

Final month, final push, gonna go walk under the beautiful sun

I feel you man, whenever I have got as lean as I get, lower back is always the last place to hold on to some fat.

The reality is there is always going to be somewhere, your body really doesn’t like fat levels getting too low.

Something I’ve noticed that helps, aesthetically, is bigger glutes and lats. Doesn’t get rid of the fat obviously, but big ol glutes just gets rid of the degree to which the area ‘protrudes’.

The other is stop wearing such damn tight shorts / underwear lol

True that…

Good thing then that they are probably my best parts :joy:

People in here said this several times but they actually aren’t tight ahah, usually old, loose stuff (even looser now as I lost weight). I don’t care much for my underwear (spot the single guy). It’s just that I have loose skin from when I was a fatty and it exarcerbates this look

I don’t feel the need for huge weights on shrugs. Often times people don’t go for a decent contraction because they’re excited to finally stack a couple of 20’s on the bar. I like them for high reps and/or with pauses. That said I don’t do them regularely.

Yeah I always do pauses. Even then, I’m not a big fan of shrugs or traps training in general. Haney shrugs are decent though. But what usually gets me is olympic lifting.

This morning I decided to switch the routine a bit. Last two weeks I was doing 15 mins of cardio when waking up but it really didn’t motivated me, no energy before my coffee/breakfast and all. I did some rower later then after some work, and it felt better. I had the energy, and actually wanted to push hard, which I did! Gonna stick with this and see how it goes. Legs were trashed after (but I had not rowed in more than a month) and now my right lower back is a bit painful, which is unusual, but I didn’t use my usual rowing technique because if I power like a pig on this one I might broke it like I already did, and it just moves around everywhere

Was watching a Jesse James West video during the rows, who is like in awesome natty shape, and I was wondering. He’s not ultra shredded, but he certainly does look amazing, and would look great in pics and good lighting. Truth is I’m probably leaner than him, and I could hang out with him size wise. So yeah another realization that I have a warped view of body images and unrealistic expectations from all these social medias.

So I’m not stressing over it. Still keeping the cruise, it’s not too hard even though yesterday night I was a bit hungry. I’m gonna look good anyway, just leaning down a little bit more to show what an average guy can do with some time and effort.

But not stressing over it. I do feel good, and if I wasn’t planing on doing some pics I wouldn’t want to go lighter as all. My boss said that if I might lose muscle if I keep dieting. probably, but we’ll see!

Right now I’m in optimal conditions: lots of free-time, little stress. Because there’s no way I could do Colossus on a deficit and recover otherwise, even if it’s a modest deficit. I shall appreciate this freedom and opportunity.

05/05 - Colossus - Leg 1

Was tough, nothing crazy but it’s still draining. My head spinned a bit after the warm-up for calves lol! I’m looking forward maintenance ahahah

Lunges were burning like hell, on my left leg particularly (the weakest) balance was really off and as a result my glutes were on fire for stabilizing all this

Knees go a bit in on these exercises. Rushed the trap-bar because I psyched myself thinking it would be harder. Going faster on the concentric is easier but sometimes I feel my rbacing or my knee tracking isn’t as great. Feels like a lot but it doesn’t look like much on video so I’m probably just overthinking :man_shrugging:
I don’t know if I shall try a wider or closer stance then. I’ll just use less weight on the trap-bar anyway next time

@anna_5588 got me thinking, I never do cardio or almost and I have a sub 7’ 2K row and a 6’ mile. These are nothing crazy per se, but considering I don’t do cardio, not bad! I guess I am more slow fibers dominant… Which could explain why I’m not that strong but hypertrophy stuff is good and I have some nice endurance there

Probably just thinking out of my head again and It’s not like it would change my way of training either lol

Also, finally got some precision: back to class from 05/31 to 06/09 then it’s internship from there to 07/31 (using your weird date format). And I 'll have my degree then on the last day of July. Finally!

Still gonna leave my wretched job in late june, and happens whatever happens, but I think it’ll be for the better.

Today was a nice push day, kept it quick and hard, and it provided a massive pump

This exercise really felt good on the chest, and my mates said they never felt it like that!

Big pump today but then I noticed something:

As usual i’m terrible at selfies and lighting is horrible but we can notice two red “spots” on my chest, and they actually are begining of stretch marks! Whaaat? I mean yeah I had crazy chest pump on the program but that would mean I’ve actually gained a decent amount of chest muscle quite fast?

That would mean two things:

• My decifit isn’t as nearly aggressive as it could/should be

• The Mountaindog way is definitely the way to go for me if I want size and Meadows is a genius @TrainForPain

Yesterday, night with the mate. Didn’t slept much but at elast I brought my own pizza and stayed withing my calories for the day, instead of doing what I do usually: say “fuck it”, order with them and splurge on super greasy but delicious restaurant pizza until my belly hurts

Today, I also treated me and it was DELICIOUS

I’m already at 12K steps today. I think i’m going to bump it to 15

Wanted to talk about something else than lifting now, it’s tattoos! I’ve been thinking about a while for some new ones. I keep thinking though, because in any case it won’t happend before months or years for two reasons:

• Tattoos are permanent so we shouldn’t do them on a whim

• They are expensive ahahah

I only have one for now, the athenian owl for my grandma. In any case, rather than “being a patchwork” of several styles and different kind of tatts, I’d rather be more of a canvas and do everything in the same style.

In any case I’ll find a balance, because I don’t want to completely cover my muscles lol

I want to go towards two directions: either greek or viking.

The greek side, well from being a few months old to 19, I was spending all my summers in Greece at my grand-parents house. Used to talk a bit of it. They educated me more than my parents. When I was a kid I used to believe in the old pagan Greek Gods, and Poseidon as my divinity, from living in the isles, in this magical place full of history and the tales of my grandfather.
Hence why my first tattoo is an owl for my grandma, to represent the wisdom and how she raised me and instructed me.

So this country will always have a special place in my heart (and the food oh my…). I wanted to be an aerchologist because of that. I’ve always been fascinated by the ancient greek, egyptian and nordic Gods and culture.

For the viking side: I’ve never been to Scandinavia, but appart from reading the stories and the myths, I’ve been listening to Black and Viking metal for more than 15 years now. I’ve been bathed in this culture, these langages, these sounds for so long they became an unalterable part of myself. When I was a teen I even bought a Norwegian langage book and I learned some of it.

Anyway, I only have one tatt and the next I’ll be thinking carefully, to stay in the same theme.

I don’t want photorealistic stuff but something old, ancient, like they used to do. Something tribal, primal, an ode to the Old Gods.

For instance this character, I’ve always really enjoyed his tattoos. And recentely I met a girl with tatts on her hands and fingers and it really looked great when I used to think meeeh

And a cosplayer:

The guy is jacked, and we can still clearly see it, his physique is not destroyed.

I want something in this style, and many things I like like runestones:

Or the vegvisir

If I opt to greek, t would be the same kind of stuff but instead of Thor and runes it would be Heracles and Greek alphabet (the 12 labours was one of my favourite books when I was a kid)

I’ve been thinking about stuff depicting my family and all. Like my grandfather, he’s a scientist and taught me much, but his thirst of truth has blinded him from many things and he clashed with my christian grandma mainy times…

So for instance I had the idea of a Greek statue bust, with a candle burning on his forehead, with the wax running on his head and covering his eyes.

But I could totally do something like that from the viking world: Odin or Mimir both sacrificed things for the quest of knowledge.

Anyway, this was a rambling and a melting pot of ideas

I know many people who got tattoos on a whim without regret. You can do whatever you want. I think putting some thought into it is a good idea, but there’s no rule book. I actually think costs aside, people spend too long suffering from paralysis by analysis. I think you should get in touch with an artist whose style you like as soon as possible. To at least work through ideas with you.

But yes, understandable. This is also true.

Why not both?

My guy charges for his time. The artwork and collaboration cost. He will apply that to the cost of the tattoo. But he doesn’t like working with people who don’t commit, which is why he charges now.

I would recommend working with someone and having them draw the design on you in marker and then you taking a few days to think about it and make adjustments.

Yes, you raise very fair points indeed, thank you!

You resumed most of my life :joy:

That’s okay. This is one thing where I’m not cheap

My thoughts as well. I have a bunch of scars and marks on my body that are ALSO permanent that I didn’t choose to have. Permanent marks just happen. At least with a tattoo it can be a pretty picture you picked.

It’s cool to have stuff with lots of meaning and stuff too, but it can also just be something that looks cool.
