Deficit Deads

So today is the first time I’ve ever done deficit deadlifts, and needless to say I’m confused. Everything felt way lighter and moved a lot faster than a conventional deadlift at the same weight. Anybody else experience this or have any thoughts as to why this would happen?

It’s all about positioning and leverage. My guess is that pulling from a deficit puts you in a better position to use leg drive when starting the pull. maybe you typically start with your hips a bit higher than optimal and the deficit made you drop them into a better starting position.

I guess that makes sense. It’s just weird cause I’ve always read they’re much much harder than conventional.
