Deca Only for Boxers

If a boxer is training hard as hell for a fight in 2 months, and is having a little problem with joint pain, would it be a bad idea for him to use 1 cc of deca 300 per week, for eight weeks leading up to a fight? He knows a lot of boxers who have used it and said it virtually eliminated joint soreness.

What effects could he expect? He’s most worried about “deca dick.” Rather have the pain than that. He also supplements with 1.2 gm Tribbulis Terristris two times a day, 1 gm. HMB two times a day, 5 gm. glutamine two times a day.

He’s 27 years old, 6’ 1" 198.7 lbs and 14% bf. Keep in mind he would only be using the deca 300 once per week, no other steroid.

What good/bad effects could he expect? Thanks a lot for your advice guys!

What classification is this boxer in? Heavyweight, lightweight, featherweight? Using certain chemicals can throw a fighter off and make them miss their weight class (bloat, fat, water retention, etc.)

The Deca sounds good for joint pain, but I was never a fan of it for doing it alone. An all-Deca cycle? No way. And the half-life is WAY too long, especially if the plan is to take it for 8 weeks right up until the fight. You won’t feel the effects from Deca until the 3rd week atleast. I would even go as far as suggest that you do 2IU of GH everyday for 3 weeks before the fight date. It will lean you up nicely too (if you’re aiming for a specific weight class… but like I said, I don’t know). But don’t do Deca.

If joint pain is really a problem, then look into some good MSM and chondroitin supplements, and high doses of vitamin E. Good luck.

Thanks for your advice man.

Here’s the weight deal:

He weighs 197.5 first thing in the morning, after a piss, naked and no food (about 12% bf but not sure. He has two choices - 1. Cut to 178, or 2. If he can’t make 178 he’s in the 179-201 class. So he figures he can try and add or at least maintain lean muscle, while dropping his bf to come in a lean 194ish around 10%bf. He could definately maintain his punching power and the loss of bf would boost his endurance a little.

What dose of Gluco/Chond do you recommend? I’ve heard it can take 6 weeks until you star feeling better. Any particular brand you recommend. I guess if he already has the stuff I would tell him to throw it out and cut his losses, opting foe the Gluco/Chond?

This is amateur boxing by the way. Now what you say anout the half life of deca is interesting, b/c the guy has to take a piss test for a very important tournament in 5 monthes.

Oh, and what are your thoughts on the HMB and Tribullis Terrestris?

for glucosamine and chondroitin, just pick the cheapest brand that is reputable. i usually suggest double dosing through steroid cycles. also fish oil will help with the joint pain by reducing inflamation. also vitamin c and e help too.

don’t forget that deca does not protect well from overtraining compared to some other steroids. also the progesterone stimulating properties are something to think about. this is probably how it draws the extra water into the joints thereby reducing pain, but only while on. as soon as the cycle is over many experience pain if sufficient healing has not occured. npp would probably help a little with water retention but i think test is a better option (with arimidex or letrozole) for an athlete involved in a power sport, perhaps with boldenone or anavar. also if using arimidex, then 20-40mg of nolva are used while on and 100mg of clomid after the cycle usually for a period equal in length of the cycle up to 8 weeks (no need to go over 8 weeks if cycle was longer). such a cycle would help still with the joint reconstruction as will a compound called sodium pentosan polysulfate (cartrophen vet i believe) along with the previously mentioned therapies and it will be easier to get back to normal after a longer cycle than with deca.

if you opt for the deca anyway, p22 probably has the most experience with this (among others i’m sure)

I appreciate the advice, but i;m confused. This guy says he has 1 bottle of deca 300 and 1 bottle of test propionate.

First he wanted to just use the deca for joint pain, but if it can’t be used alone, maybe he’ll mix in the prop. He’s pretty good at using diet to control water retention as much as possible. But he doesn’t have any of this post cycle stuff your talking about.

Suppose he used the prop and the deca for two months on a pyramid cycle, tapering down at the end. Thats it period. Bad idea or worth the gains?

Also, how long do the prop and the deca stay in the system for?

alright here we go:

  1. no anciliaries means he’s screwed
  2. pyramid cycle - bad idea usually
  3. prop clears in about 4-6 days depending on dose (can be tested for up to 8 weeks out), the deca takes 2-3 weeks to clear at the least and maybe more, depending on dose

Just in case you were refering to drug testing when you asked how long they stay “in the system”, decca can be detectable for up to 18 months.

OK guys thanks a lot for your advice. Sounds like the best thing for him to do is go the old fashioned route.

He’s already pretty strong, and faster than most for his weight class. Its just the damn joint pain after 6 rounds on the bag.

How much glucosamine/chondroitin do you guys recommend taking each day?
