They’re coming here to Dallas on June 21. Along with Ensiferum (my favorite folk metal band). I’m excited…
Ensiferum was amazing until Jari left. I followed Jari to Wintersun who I believe is way better than Ensiferum ever was before, and ever will be.
Agreed. Wintersun is really good. They’re actually what got me started on listening to folk metal a few of years ago. Their songs have some incredible guitar in them.
Does anyone listen to much local music in their area? If so, does anyone know the names of an exceptional death or black metal local band?
Hmmm, Necrophagist, Ahab, (Kreator - mh…), Obscura?
I don’t think they’re actually from my Area though… But hey, Germany is so small that it doesn’t matter, right?

So I was going to go to a concert today with Cephalic Carnage, Cattle Decapitation, Mayhem, and Marduk, but apprently CC fucking cancelled.
DAMMIT IT ALL!!!
Hmm. I’ve only seen Marduk live once (I think, it’s not like you can tell the difference between Marduk and a most local underground bm bands… At least not with the faster bands)… After the panzerdivision album when they got their new drummer.
They played everything at like twice(ok, not quite) the speed it’s played on the album and that made everything sound like you were listening to it in fast forward. Not too great… Killed all the guitar melodies. Bass player was surprisingly decent though, shame you only really hear him on 2 songs or so total between all of their albums.
Mayhem, well, I haven’t heard anything from them in a while, but the frontman used to (probably still does) sound like he was falling asleep when “singing”.

That’s too bad. I’m not a huge black-metal guy, but Marduk is one of those “Staple” bands I don’t mind having in my collection… them, Burzum, Emperor, Immortal… you know.
I’d expect a lot from Mayhem (considering they ate the brains of their suicidal frontman years ago…) But yeah, when watching live performances, they look really boring.
The only reason I was really going was for CC, Cattle Decapitation is decent… but not enough to warrant driving 3 hours for.

Thank God! Someone had to say it… Not a huge Origin guy, but that Augury and Prejudice is fucking killing… haven’t listened to anything else yet.
So my band broke up, but I want to continue and keep using the name Archaeon even though my guitarists are butthurt about it. If anyone wants to do something musical and can play in the same vein as say Obscura, PM me.

Prejudice
Augury. I discovered these guys, literally, 10 minutes ago. They’re…interesting.
Ah yes, their bass guy plays in quo vadis, doesn’t he?
Psoriasis. From France. Another band I discovered this morning, really fucking cool!!
