Are you guys aware that Suffocation is releasing a new album in July?

Holy dog shit… That song slays babies and rapes nuns! I WANT!

New album huh? Cool, I thought their self-titled was better than most of their previous ones overall… Let’s see how they develop (more polyrhythms please ! lol).

do you want more polyrythm? I’ll show you something that has some (it’s not metal)

What do you think about this

I’ve got quite a few zappa albums lying around somewhere (and several of his drummers ended up in metal later on lol… Or at least one did).

No sound on my web-pc though, so don’t bother posting vids/streaming audio.

I have all the Zappa albums on my laptop, but that being said, you might wanna try progressive metal acts like

Opeth - When

Andromeda - Star Shooter Supreme

Fredrik Thordendal’s Special Defects Medley

stuff like that is cool, but not really gym music.

but…

if you are a noob to metal and want to break yourself in try some of the ‘metalcore’ bands…as much as any ‘metal’ guy hates most of them there are some good bands out there that are great for training.

Killswitch Engage, All That Remains both worked for me at one point for training.

Hatebreed, Five Finger Death Punch, are two bands that ALWAYS get me in a lifting/fighting mood.

C_C hit the nail on the head with metal being a journey…I’m now really into stuff that I originally disliked.

Its funny like that. lol

They always play those bands at my gym when all the powerlifters/strongmen train together, they are good bands for noobs to get into, and I might even suggest The Red Chord as well, since they write musically well written music.[/quote]

Definitely… Metal is evolution. Hell, my line went something like this (obviously with far many bands in between, and many other musical genres as well. I’ve always listened to rap and hip/hop.)

Metallica was the first.
Then came emo.
Then screamo. (Atreyu, A Static Lullaby, etc.)
Then hardcore. (Poison the Well, As I Lay Dying, Hopesfall)
Then came harmonic metal (Dark Tranquility, Children of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir)
Then metalcore. (Atreyu, Lamb of God)
Then came harder metal (Amon Amarth, At the Gates, Despised Icon, Bloodbath, Impaled)
Then deathcore. (Trigger the Bloodshed, All Shall Perish)
Then death metal. (Severed Savior yay!)
Then I typed this post.

I didn’t know about it yet… Hell yeah, new Atheist album!

The only good “metalcore” band is Ion Dissonance

Old school THRASH ATTACK!

Sodom

Destruction

Artillery

Exhorder

Kreator

I wouldn’t have guessed them as metalcore…

would you care to post up a couple of their good songs?

I was always quite partial to this one for some reason. Killer “breakdowns” somewhere near the end use to get me super pumped when I lifted.

This thread needs more Malevolent Creation.

Eve of the Apocalypse

Systematic Execution

Prelude to Doomsday

In Cold Blood

The Will to Kill

Fucing A, I can’t find anything older than Retribution on youtube. It’s as if they never existed before Retribution. I don’t know how to work youtube, but maybe I should start making some vids. Do any of you guys know how to do that?

gladly!

That one always gets my T going, best breakdown ever in my mind!

another great one

these are all off the same album, but god dammit its by far the best thing they ever did

Insane video!

I dunno if this is up your alley or not, its super aggrsive and great lifting music though, but it seems most of the stuff i’ve seen you post about if fairly melodic…well obviously this band is going to pretty dissonant sounding (lol)

I can listen to this stuff over and over again because of how musically interesting/fucked up it sounds, however im a serious musician so it might not have to same appeal to non musicians

Not related to ID: What were your favorite Gojira albums again?
I only got the most recent one just now… Haven’t listened to it much.

wow all this hardcore stuff… i have no patience with the hardcore sound, sorry.

i’m gonna balance it out with some immortal:

solarfall

withstand the fall of time

then:
gorgoroth - a world to win

oaf huck! gojira is amazing. i’m listening to the way of all flesh and from mars to sirius

the art of dying, off of the way of all flesh

edit: vacuity. also off the way of all flesh. very catchy song

gojira is an excellent band. they are also amazing live.

i know i’ve posted kataklysm before, but they’re just so awesome (not quite gojira awesome, but still awesome)

kataklysm - blood in heaven

kataklysm - renaissance (nice melodic intro… actually most of the song is melodic)

Enjoy the mind fuck

I couldn’t ever get into Gojira for some reason… I think it’s the vocals.

Neuraxis…

Neuraxis - Thought Adjuster - YouTube (Starts lame, give it a minute or so.)

Huh? I thought you liked Gojira, or was that Rattler or …?

Oh well.
