Cast Down the Heretic (Caaaaaaaaaaaaast Dowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn the herrr a ticccccc)
Wrought
Sometimes it’s nice to re-visit the classics lol.
God I can’t listen to like more than a song at a time, but this song slays, the shred at like 1:20 in rules.

Whoever did the mixing/production on Antithesis should be shot… These guys have some really cool riffs there but it just ends up sounding like crap on the CD, drums too, and bass especially (if you get to hear it at all).
The first half of Finite is also pretty cool, then Antithesis (song) has great parts after the first third… Also: Wrath of Vishnu.
They could do with a bit more complexity when it comes to song structuring/riff structuring though… Then again, with that production it would just make things more confusing.
And you like exactly the same part I usually skip to when listening to that song lol
(though the song is one of their best in general… Pretty rare for them to have a song that’s good from beginning to end, I usually just like parts of them)

Got the album… A little bit closer to the old tech-thrash stuff like watchtower. Haven’t had that in a while.

I actually really liked the production values on that CD. I mean, I love sludgy sloshy death metal as much as anyone, but the CD (IMO) is so crisp and precise, it’s nice to be able to hear everything that’s going on instead of… kind of a melting pot of sounds, haha.

I’m not really talking about that… I mean the sounds are utterly unnatural and have no real oomph behind them (drums)…
The guitars are ok basically (you can hear most of the notes reasonably well), and in some sections they actually sound good, but most of the time… I’ve heard both much crisper and clearer and more differentiated productions, but what especially bothers me that there’s no power and no thickness behind the sound whatsoever (with a few exceptions here and there during the CD, mostly a guitar part here or there).
And the bass guitar sounds like crap. Seriously. Maybe the CD doesn’t like my sound system or whatever… It does sound a lot worse on PC where the sound is even more neutered…
Mind you, I still like Antithesis as a whole a lot more than previous Origin albums.
The CD also has little real bass to it, sound-wise…

Thanks for posting these… Not often that I end up liking simple stuff these days.
Hah, Rotting Christ… I’m Greek so they are cool as shit. Anyways, I’m seeing them spring next yr.
Well, this weekend I’m going to see a show that looks like this:
Cannibal Corpse
Dying Fetus
Vital Remains
Devourment
…and I am fucking stoked. I’ve been wanting to see Devourment for some time now.
Not sure if this is considered death metal, probably not, but a great band. I highly recommend picking this album up, “Survivalist” by ABACABB, it’s a really good listen. Unfortunately, the band is no longer together.
ABACABB - Infection
ABACABB - Addiction
