Congrats undesired, that was an impressive squat and props to you for making it through!I finished the Base Cycle today hitting 10 sets of 3 on 375. It felt heavy as hell and i am pretty burnt out. Going to take a week off and then going to try and hit 435. I am going to start doing some speed work bc my CNS hates me right now. I can feel myself shaking when i try to do basic motor stuff. Also i noticed my motivation is pretty burnt out to. I hope to start the intense phase in about 2 weeks maybe 3 depending on how i am feeling.

Thanks a lot Gator. I was really surprised at how comfortable I felt in the hole.
Congrats on getting thru the Base. The last session is a grind, but it will pay off on max day, big-time.
After you Max, the switching phase is a great relief. I did some plyo work just to get my muscles jump-started. Keep a positive attitude, cause the Intense Phase is no joke, even though it’s only 3 sessions a week.
Good luck, and keep us updated on how it’s going for you.

Ok, so today was test day. I felt pretty odd. I told Stallion the other day that I feel really loose, which is not a sensation that I have experienced in the past 5 months. 5 months of Smolov Jr and the full Smolov routine. But, I did take a couple of weeks between Jr and the Full. All of the hard work boiled down to 30 seconds under the weights I chose. I wanted to hit three squats; 215.5kg, 226.8kg, and 231.3kg.
I was telling my wife that I haven’t missed a rep in 5 months of squatting, not one and that could come to an end today. When I unracked 215, the memories of this being my switching weight for negatives went thru my head. And how it was more like a car-crusher in a junk yard and less like a negative. That was as close as I came to a negative thought all day. After I hit 226.8, I loaded up for 231, but I was too giddy about hitting 226 before my birthday (one of my goals). I chose to leave 231 in the bag, and walk away healthy (relatively speaking, of course).
I will do another Smolov cycle, but that will be at the end of the year. I have to get my form back on my other lifts (I can’t let Modi out-squat, out-dead, AND out-bench me).
I hope that this thread has helped at least one person, or will help someone in the future. I know that when I read it and watch the earlier vids, I can’t believe that I am now moderately strong in the squat. Thanks to all of the guys that showed your support (too many to name, but you know who you are). That was one of the things that kept me going every day.
NOT FOR THE SQUIMISH:
I came home and laid in bed and showed my wifey the video and she kissed me and told me that she just either got turned on or started her period, so my “after-squat” celebration may be put off for 7 days :-D. [/quote]
Great job man! And what a thread. Another couple of Smolov rounds and I see 6 wheels.

Thanks FF. I won’t be doing another session till November.
You know, 3-wheels was cool, 4-wheels was great, 5-wheels was awesome, 6…man, when 6 falls, I will probably whip IT out and “take care of business” right there!

Don’t encourage the man. Let him be content with 5 wheels. I don’t need him catching up to me just yet. ![]()

I almost spit my french toast on my computer, Modi. I am taking it easy for a few months, maybe you should too ;-D
