Never heard of the guy, but I saw this today

What year did he win the Mr. America?

Thats a good question. Iā€™ve only found one source saying 1977 thats it. BUT when I looked deeper it wasnt accurate.

Muscle Memory site shows many of Deanā€™s placings (as it does mine too).

The site shows 13 placings in high level contests. His highest placing shows in 1986 that he won the Lightweight Class of the NPC Nationals.

He entered the AAU Mr. America as a Lightweight in 1980 (11th) and 1981 (5th).

Only the AAU held the Copyright for the title Mr. America (I know that is just a technicality)

Im guessing they are using the tittle Mr America since he competed not necessarily because he won.
