You’re a newb who likely won’t make it past that stage…because you already think the minimal effort you’ve put forth is worthy of praise.
It isn’t.
I am a newb/nub, but I’ll make it past the newb stage adaptation wise. I may never know jack shit though, but who can? There’s so much conflicting information in the iron game you could put your life’s work into something and no matter what a few groups of people would say it’s wrong. I’m not trying to be a professional power or o lifter or body builder. I just want to get a 2.5 ratio squat to body weight be able to rep the fuck out of 225 on bench and powerclean 315. Outside of that I don’t give a fuck about weight lifting. If I can do that before my performance starts to decline anymore I’ll be happy. What’s an admirable effort? Tearing my bicep, pec, and quad along with crushing a couple vertebrae trying to squat 1100lb? Winning some pointless body building comp? Fuck that. You can have it. I’m Ron Burgundy?
I think the question we are all asking is why someone with goals that minimal would be caring so much about what other people are doing in the gym…especially when one is a fitness model meaning she is already doing SOMETHING well.
It’s not like I’m ripping on a sponsored professional athlete. For a average dude those goals are hard. We’re not all world class athletes. I don’t ever want to see a half dip or pull up in my life again.I find it hard to believe that a 2in eccentric phase on a dip when you lock out at the top is going to help with TOT. Maybe with a half ass pullup, but I’d say we’re just going for reps and looking cool. I’m sure full ROM has it’s purpose just like TOT.
Personally, a 225lbs bench was what we were after in high school.
Why you gotta rip on my goals man? I love me some irony.
I would likely avoid applauding that effort outside of specifically watching how many reps someone can do training for football.
I would likely say your a genius because you figured out why I’d want such a miniscule goal. I’ll never play on Saturdays or Sundays but anyone can put up a max consecutive rep effort with 225. Yeah it’s a pointless measure of strength because it doesn’t really apply to anything, but it’s and official measuring stick right now. I have this retarded tendency to try and measure myself against collegiate and professional power athletes because I’m living in the past. There’s some more fodder for you guys to rip me up with.

Can we just get this thread deleted and our 5 minutes back? Well, except for Booty Intermission. Nicely played!

BS. Your were repping 405 10 times in high school.

Didn’t rip on them…just stated it was minimal. To me, if a grown man can’t press 200lbs off of him he’s pretty freaking weak. Anyone with a sports background or interest in high school was after 225…so hearing that from a grown man as being a stopping point is strange to me.
I wouldn’t be in the gym working this hard if my goals could be reached in a year.
There are tons of people like you…and it is way more likely you will train “off and on” like them also.

re-up?
I apologize for being a douche. Yet again I’m shown I should keep my mouth shut in the presence of any T-Nation member.
Stephanogym will be here shortly to forgive you.
The Booty Intermission was the best part of this thread

Sorry missed this yesterday. Why did you get out? My biggest mistake in life was not going in when I was a father at 17.

I got out for relationship reasons and the idea that I was being held back. Had I stayed in I would at least be a major by now if not higher up. I’m not saying I made a bad decision, just that now that I’m out, I realize life itself is good and bad so regardless of where you are, you still have to deal with shit.
What I miss is the camaraderie and the idea that you could trust the people around you a little more.
You don’t leave your keys in your car in third ward and run inside a store. It won’t be there when you get back. You at least have a 50/50 chance on base.
