My fiancee loves my callouses. She has expressly told me they get her hot.
I do use gloves though, and straps and hooks. I’ve bent three sets of hooks now and even tried forging my own from 6-guage steel in my dad’s shop. Still bent them on a 550 dead.
I have an unbalanced physique as far as strength goes though. I’m working on getting my upper body as powerful as my legs.
I have long away to go with my bench max only at 235. Suxor.

lol yeah I hear ya. During last semester I was seeking out a gym to lift at because the gym at my school kept closing for no apparent reason on ridiculous days thus throwing me off the rhythm. So I think it was planet fitness where I went and was told that the place was a judgment free zone, that if you made the slightest noise while lifting or slightly dropped the weights an alarm would go off and they would escort you out of the building. I was told at the front desk they do not allow the body building “type” in. As if everyone there is not trying to build their body to their specific wants. Ignorant people… let us be we aren??t directly bothering anyone![/quote]
another reason to lift at home, you can play music as loud as you want, sweat and grunt repeatedly and scream your head off on every rep and no one will care
After showering, you can try trimming your callouses down using fingernail clippers. I never had luck trying to file them down. You can carefully clip down to the “soft” skin which will allow that part of the hand to conform to the bar, instead of being caught and ripped off, as happens with calloused skin.
Also - chalk, of course.
If you’re repping, use straps while still using a mixed grip. Squeeze the bar hard, and I’d be willing to bet you won’t lose any grip strength.
