That’d be cool to read. Thats right, the ROM is slightly less on the RTBDL, but still effective and probably safer too. I also feel it more in my “core”.
Isometric DL; no issues at all with my back, my quads are sore as hell today though, which tells me a few things, eccentric loading is not the only thing that causes soreness or damage, a novelty stimulus cant be just as effective.
Lol, yeah i seen that KB thread, i thought it was a joke at first, but now am not so sure, whatever turns ya on i guess lol.
Hi Rob,
Can’t find the info on the Reeves Deadlift. It was in an old issue of Ironman so is probably now landfill. I did find the Youtube post that had much of the Ironman material. Not sure if TN will allow the link but it’s
Slainte,
Ray
PS: I hear NI’s being hit badly by Covid-19. Stay safe.
Ah nice one, cheers Ray. Well now that is interesting, I must give that a try as it was intended tomorrow, I’ve been looking for a side delt builder, I never got much from lateral raises, DB, cable or machine.
I’ll still salt on the Reeves style TBDL, was yourself that told me about that one.
Covid; yeah it appears to be hitting the countries that did well with it on the first wave. Thankfully it doesnt appear to be causing too many deaths though.
When I first started it did more for my grip than my traps or delts. I was 12 and we only had the old plastic weights with no ridges so had to grip hard. Never did them regular enough to tell if they’d effect the delts.
When I did Reeves Deads it was with the tri-grip plates, and grip was never an issue. I admit, it was always as a variant on the Snatch-grip style that I did them and never considered the exercise to be a delt builder. I just got tired of them as the weight was so massively reduced to accommodate the stretched arms. Reeves was 6’-6’ 1", tall but not excessively so. How he could do this with a standard Olympic barbell confused me for a while. If used as a delt routine then that makes more sense. Still, using the trap bar is a whole new ball game and makes the exercise a great back builder. Maybe not something Reeves intended but worth looking into for those of us with back problems.
Health lift (hand and thaigh lift)
Worked up to 440kg x 1 with a 5 second static hold
DB stiff legged deadlifts
2x30kgs x 12
2x40kgs x 12
2x50kg x 2 sets of 12 and 10
Leg extension
Worked up to a 152.5kg max static hold, immediately followed up with 11 reps to positive failure with 115kg
Calf presses
200kg x 12 reps to failure (holding each rep in the contracted position for 5 seconds)
Haven’t preformed the health lift in several months, forgot how much i liked it. No other exercise has increase my overall strength like the HL, certainly wont be preforming them more than once or twice per month, hard on the nervous systems. Double edged sword.
8/10/20 Arm workout
Close grip supine MAG bar pulldown
Worked up to a 130kg max static hold, immediately followed up with one set of 9 reps to positive failure with 100kg
V bar pushdowns
Top set of 12 reps to fail
Overhead cable rope triceps extension
Top set of 8 reps to fail
Cable rope hammer curl
Top set of 12 reps to fail
Another 2lb off this week, still no real hardships, still having my cake and eating it…well, halfa cake lol.
I tried the Reeves wide grip “shrug” , in a few different ways, with a 7ft bar and a 5ft, just couldn’t get a feel for it, I’ll have another go again though, sometimes it takes a few goes before it “hits the spot”.
Ended up doing a short second workout, banged out 5 reps with 500lb with the Reeves TBDL…aka cardio lol. Even slipped into my pink soaks …hey, its Saturday night baby
Up until a year ago I was full “natty”. Around 2 years ago my shoulder was giving me a lot of aggro, so I did several months of research and decided to use anavar, its helped a great deal.
Now, I dont normally mention it, especially to the guys in the gyms I train at, usual because they give their well meaning, but unsolicited non researched opinions…goes something like…
Oh anavar is for woman
Oh anavar is a cutting drug
Oh anavar only cycles dont do shit, you need a test base with it
Oh anavar has a 8hr half life, you need to split the dose blah blah blah
The list goes on…
How I used it…
8 week cycles, first 2 weeks is 25mg per workout, then 4 weeks of 50mg pre workout, then 2 final weeks at 25mg.
I’ve experimented with up to 75-100mg daily, 2-3 times daily, I found there was little difference. Am looking for the minimal effective dosage.
I did pair var with 2mg of test400 per week, wasnt overly fussed on it. The var only has helped my shoulder and increased my strength maybe 5-10%. Moreover a not a fan of this water bloated rented gains look I see so much of these days. When the gyms reopened after a 4 month lockdown here, the “water babies” came back looking deflated, weak and like they’d never seen the inside of a gym. Each to their own though.
So, currently I’m off cycle, and I’ll stay off until my strength starts to drop as I continue to drop weight /BF it’ll help maintain my strength.
I should also note, I’ve had blood works done privately before and after a couple of my cycles, zero issues with this drug.
It will cause some suppression during the cycle, but not likely to shut you down entirely. The down side is decreased E2 causing joint and other issues if the E2 gets too low. You might want to look into injecting BPC-157 fo future issues, it is pretty highly touted and no HPTA effects as it’s not an androgen. A test base would really be for higher doses, and 100-200mg a week would be plenty to accomplish overcoming suppression during your cycle. Good to hear it worked for you.
Solid advice, thank you. Yeah, thankfully ive not experienced any joint issues (as of yet), though i know what you mean. I may well look into that for future cycles.
Many thanks
Rob
Worlds strongest grip Mark Felix was 5th
Finlands strongest man finished 6th
