I feel like there is so much truth to this statement I must say x2.
I feel like my increases in both lifts follow each other. As my shrugs increase with good form, my DL isn’t far behind, and obviously vice versa.

Yeah. I do deadlifts on leg day, and shrugs on back day. But that of course means I am doing deadlifts on back day too, because it’s kinda hard to shrug something until you deadlift it into position.
They definitely help eachother. And I just make sure to keep a couple of days in between legs and back so I have some time to recover.
