Chalk it is.
You’re all super helpful, thanks guys.

So explain this…Thurs night I used the farm walk ‘I’ beams loaded to 400lb per hand and locked it out for a few seconds. I locked out 370lb/hand before that for 10s. These are about a 4-5" lift/lock-out. 300lb/hand I hold for 15s but could probably do 20+ if I wanted. (this is weight belt and no wrist straps)
On the other hand my DL PR is currently 475lb. Have tried 505 (wanted to beat a partners PR by 5) but can’t break it off the floor (yet). My sticking point is floor to just below knee.
So is my grip stronger than my posterior chain?

This might not be the answer to your question but instead of using chalk I use this stuff called gorrilla snot, its a sort of gel you rub onto your hands and they become all tacky and grippy,You can find it at any guitar center or place like that. Its not messy and doesnt get everything all chalky.

I disagree with the statement that somethings wrong with a grip stronger than the PC. I think thats how it should be. What about rack lockouts for everyone? Always strapped?

Using straps does not create a better grip, this has been argued to death.

Regardless, many people have reported being able to lift more without straps after a sustained period of lifting (and gaining overall strength) with straps. So to say it hurts isn’t necessarily true either.
For my part, I don’t know. I’ve pulled 515 with chalk only and I used straps today for the very first time and they didn’t actually seem to help add any reps to my 405 DL. I can see how they could be useful though. I’ll let you know in a few months!

I sincerly doubt this, where was it heard…would of mouth? a study? I’m not disputing your opinion I just have a hard time believing that straps are a grip tool rather then a crutch.

I’ve read it from some of the members here. The logic is that if your deadlift is at 500lbs without using straps and then you start using them for every workout and get up to 600 with straps, you should be able to pull at least 550-575 with just chalk after gaining a lot of overall strength.
The idea got me curious enough to buy some straps anyway.
In fact, if memory serves it was NewDamage that recently wrote of this type of experience. Maybe he’ll see this.
Use double overhand with no chalk until it’s too heavy. Then put on some chalk. When that gets to heavy, change to a mixed or hook grip.
This way you will get to work on your grip a bit more, compared to what you would have done if you only lifted with hook/mixed grip also on the lighter stuff.
I’m with molnes, and like others said alternating your grip will work as well. As I get stronger with mixed grip, I get stronger with double overhand.
Make sure you do heavy work for your grip, like rack pulls or farmers walks with a heavy deadlifting weight, even cheat shrugs. There’s a limit to what you can do double overhand without hook grip, but if you get brutally strong and it’s 600-700lbs, then are you going to complain?

My ears are burning.
Yeah, beebuddy’s right on the money - I’ve been pretty clear about my experience with straps.
I’ve never pulled above 515 without them, but let me reiterate that - I was pulling 515, for reps, before I ever used them.
When I got to 585 for a double, I attempted 600 the next week and grinded out the most slow and painful deadlift of my life and my grip was nowhere near giving out - I also don’t do any special grip work.
Now, this was MY experience. I use an over/under grip, even with straps but I also squeeze the bar pretty damn hard - I don’t feel the bar really “hanging” from the straps - hell, I’ve had my grip give out while doing reps before - for me, I use the straps mainly to keep the bar from rolling so that it doesn’t rip chunks out of my hand, ruining my ability to lift ( as happened when I hit 585 for a double again, no straps, this past week.)
So, some people might experience grip strength decline, but others, depending on how they wrap and use them, in addition to their already base level of grip strength, might not.
As always, your results may vary.

You’re right and I’m not sure why you assumed I thought otherwise.
I’m saying that grip can (and should be) stronger than your posterior chain.
