Deadlift Died

My question is about deadlifting. I have pulled both styles I did 565 conv a few months ago in training but best in a full meet is 540 in sumo style. For both I used a supersuit.

For the past few months I was using this program:
http://www.elitefts.com/documents/moscow_and_columbus.htm

On the EliteFTS site by Jack Reape. It was working pretty well for a while and I was going to do a meet in April and was excited to see what would happen. I had an injury on my right hip and lower back from years ago but I wanted to do the meet so I kept training this way anyway. For personal stuff that came up at the last mintue I had to miss the meet.

Afterwards I decided to back off deadlift training as the hip problem was getting unbearable so I just did singles. That was going well then my back and hips cramped up again during a workout a few weeks ago, I was doing 10 singles with 425 actually was moving them fast but had to stop after 6.

After that I started alternating singles with deadlifts off blocks each week. 2 weeks ago since I was tapering for the meet I just did some reps wih 365 off blocks to kind of save myself for squatting in a suit later in the week and the reps felt very easy.

Today though I did some squat singles in my suit then I was warming up to deadlift and went to 405 and could barely break it from the ground, It felt light in my hands but it was like my muscles did not work or something???

I kind of eased up on training weights and volume but I don’t understand why I would be 100+ pounds off my best, especially since my squat improved during the same time period. Sorry for the sob story I’m just trying to figure out what I did wrong so I don’t do that again!

Overtrained, to tired, not enough food all posibilities, ive had some odd workouts where its just not there so i go light and do speed, but when its there ive had a 50 pound pr once incredible

I just recently ran into the same thing. I was doing lots of pulling from blocks because my legs would be sore on my back day. Well, I didnt want to ruin a full back day just because my hams and quads were still recovering.

So I would do a lot of pulling from the rack. I did my rack pulls, then did the rest of my back workout /shrugs, rows, chinups ect/…i did this for maybe 3 workouts. Then I changed my program and added a couple more days of rest for my legs before I hit my back day.

I got to pulling 405 for 8 reps. Then one day I walked in and decided I wanted to know where I was at. And I couldnt break 385. Exact same problem. If felt light in my hands, and it wasnt hard to rock back on my heals, but my back and quads just werent gonna get it started.

I just think it was because I stopped DLing and I lost all that power in my lower back that I used in the start of the lift. Plain and Simple. I mean, my upper back, traps would hold the tension, but I just couldnt bring my torso upright.

I think its an angle issue, you just lose the stregnth you used to start the weight from the floor. thats my best guess. It could easily be a CNS problem too, you just might be trashed and it might be time for a week off.

Another thing that might be wrong is you were doing singles and then took a break before attempting to pull 405.

The most i give my body after I do a day of singles is 2-3 days to heal up before I max out. But you could easily be diferent.
