Stretch until the cows come home, I don?t think it?s what you should concentrate solely on. I will reiterate my point and clarify it. I have worked with MANY people as clients and have experience powerlifting (working tirelessly on form issues) and have worked with some very good powerlifters.
Many powerlifters do very little stretching and yet they can squat flawlessly. Why is that? Simply put they have good form and are strong enough to maintain that form throughout a lift.
I have first time sixty plus year old women clients that have the same issues as you when squatting. I correct their form as mentioned above and they can then squat correctly without ever having done stretching, which I do at the end of a workout.
Now, some can?t squat as deeply as I would like at first but this is NOT a flexibility issue, it is a strength issue. After I very gradually add resistance they can go to depth.
Now, I?m not saying you should avoid stretching–this may help to some degree–but if you do not address form you will never be able to squat properly. The same goes for deadlift. Form. Form. Form.
