Arm day so you know I’m happy! Legs are massively sore and even a little shaky. Intensity has been through the roof in every session lately. Just pouring so much into every workout. Feels great to out so much into training and it kind of naturally raises my appetite. Been doing a lot of shakes between meals “Shake time goddammit!” Need to order more actually.
Pump was pretty sick today. All the exercises on the menu felt fantastic. Maybe slightly overestimated the weight on Barbell curls. Those 3 second eccentrics were killer, so were the Short rest breaks. The Upper Body pump day is up next and that ought to be a fun one!
@TrainForPain I don’t know if you saw or not, but the Mountain Dog team just dropped John’s “Particle Smasher” program for the first time online! I’m definitely intrigued
Upper body pump day today (Chest, Back, Shoulders). Things felt good. The pump was so nice it was maybe even a little painful. Everything was extra tough today with those short rest periods. I love the hard and heavy days but these Pump days are just damn fun and a challenge all their own.
Eating some sour punch straws post-workout. Delicious… takes me back to snacking on these during little league baseball.
The program had today written as a rest, which makes perfect sense after yesterday’s Pump session, but my schedule deviates from what’s written, of course. It does not matter. I went in today and attacked all the exercises hard as hell just like you should.
I was surprised at how much my strength has gone up on chest supported pronated dumbbell row since I last did them. After I hurt my shoulder last summer, 45 pounds was painful and difficult. Today I thought I’d try 52.5s but that was extremely easy, so I hopped up to the 100s and got some really good hard sets out of them. I’ve come along way since the summer time.
The rack pulls were actually moving crazy well today. Just felt so strong in general. Really a great workout today. Excited as hell for chest and shoulders tomorrow!
Really had one hell of a push day today. Substituted incline Smith press with reverse band bench from pins, which was a lot of fun and a good ego boost. Using the bands on Dumbbell incline was perfect, it made the hundreds hard enough to fail on the lockout of rep 10, which was right where I was supposed to. Slight incline Barbell Press was moving pretty explosively. Last 2 reps were brutally hard, dig deep into your soul, find out what kind of man you really are reps. My favorite kind. The rear delt destroyer set was on a whole different planet of brutality. I’ll link the video below
Crippling leg day. Still feeling the after effects of the rack pulls. My hamstrings were still a bit sore and Performance was down a bit on leg curl. No big deal, I was still able to push those sets every bit as hard, if not harder. The isoholds today were hell! Amazing workout today. 330x7 is definitely a PR for me on squat!
You are ridiculously strong, which is great, but I’ve really enjoyed watching you just methodically do all the little things each day and see how far you’ve come in just a year.
I appreciate that man. I just love the Bodybuilding lifestyle and every day I want to do the things I know are necessary to continue my progress and achieve my goals. There are Rest days but there are no real “off days”!
Arm day. Loaded my arms with so much blood today it just felt insane and awesome. Tate presses took a couple of warm ups to get used to. Did them with one arm at a time since I don’t have any kettlebells. Also got a tremendous feel from the stretch position on those overhead triceps extensions. Incline concentration curls were fun, great feel, I was happy to work these back in! Same for Preacher curls.
Pump day. This one felt really good! I underestimated how much the fatigue would affect my performance on machine press by the final set on these really short rest periods, but it doesn’t really matter. Hit failure and was really connecting perfectly with the exercise. I love Pull ups, feels amazing every time I work them in. I’ve got a great mind Muscle connection with them and they’re probably my favorite Back movement. The delt superset at the end was awesome, but had to drop the weight on the last set to get 10 reps with good form. Got the the whole session banged out in 35 minutes. Feeling great today!
I drank probably half of it pre, and then just took some bigger sips during the session. I finished the drink right before the last delt superset. I find it easier to get the drink down on lighter days than I do on leg day or back day because I just start feeling water logged, so sometimes on those days I don’t finish my intra shake until after the session is over just so I don’t puke with a full stomach lol
