Really intense leg day today. I came in feeling dialed in and was exhausted when I finished. Managed to progress to a tougher band and get the rep that I missed last week on leg press. Really loving training lately. Everything is flowing well.
Awesome!
Suffering from some tendinitis from heavy curls and Fat Gripz. Two things I love but also tend to bite back. Had a lot of fun in this session though, improved my performance from last workout across the board. Felt huge and strong today!
Also here’s my first physique update since making it back to OK:
Good thing you caught a shoe in that picture, so I can tell how enormous you are!
It’s all about scale! Had to have my brother take a wide shot so everyone can see how much space I take up lol
could have just said ‘feeling myself today’
Really had a great back today tonight. Gym was all to myself. No distractions just metal and lifting. Just like the garage. Love it! Really trying to focus hard on mind muscle connection with the back. Those Pulldowns felt perfect to start the workout! Tendinitis was a little better today, will probably be fine after a couple of rest days!
Very awesome Arm day! Favorite day of the week. Also my first anniversary with my wife! It’s also definitely the Preacher curls that have been causing the tendinitis. I think putting Fat Gripz on May actually help.
This coming week is the final week of Block 3 of Program X. I’ll be getting into the home stretch very soon as there’s just 3 weeks left after that in Block 4 and from there I’ll move on to 28 Days Later
Happy anniversary!
Thank you so much Sven!!
So begins Mountain Dog’s 28 Days Later today! Wow this leg day was brutal! I was absolutely dead by the end… Still am dead but still have a client to train and then more work to do, so I might sneak a Power Nap in. This was one of the most diabolical Leg days in recent memory. The shear volume and intensity of the work was so high, it just kicked my ass. No days off though! 28 days of absolute Brutality. No time to feel down or tired. Need to be extremely recovery-minded!
About an hour and 45 minute session tonight. Just brutal. My shoulder that I separated several months ago was causing me some pain, but I made it through with a tremendous pump. I’ve just been floored these last two days with the volume and intensity of work!
I felt super locked in and focused for today’s session. I usually dread back day, but today had so much novelty, I was really looking forward to it, especially The Tri-Set at the end. That was very fun and extremely challenging. I had to drop the weight a couple of times to get all of my reps with good form but it was fun and the intensity was HIGH. Straight arm Pulldowns actually felt magically delicious on my shoulder. Woke up barely able to lift my arm Overhead this morning, so this workout really felt great to force myself to go through big ranges of motion.
I’ve been fighting off some kind of cold type thing the last two days and it’s been suppressing my appetite pretty bad so I’ve been force feeding a bit and relying a little more on shakes. Absolutely felt like I was hit by a train this morning. Entire body extremely sore. This program is absolutely torturous thus far but I’ve been loving it!
Today was actually the quickest session so far at 50 minutes. Feeling pretty good right now Post-lift. Euphoric almost. Delts tomorrow, which are still feeling just fried with soreness, but honestly can’t wait to bust it out. Training with balls out Intensity every day has been super fun!
Killing it man!
Question for you, since you train in different gyms/ home/ etc: how do you deal with the necessary adjustments in your mind to hit every day and still be on the program? I find that’s a big mental issue for me when I’m traveling a lot
Thanks so much man! To me, I get excited about the unique opportunities Each training environment provides. For example, when I’m training in the garage, I’m excited about the creativity with which I have to handle some of the exercises. Obviously it’s not as well equipped as a gym, I only have a single cable and I don’t have a leg press or hack squat or Smith machine so I will have to be creative with how I can effectively recreate the prescribed movement with more limited equipment. My version of a hammer chest Press is my favorite example.
Now when it comes to training in a gym, that’s easy to get excited for, because if it’s one of my normal gyms I know what to expect equipment-wise and I get excited about getting to do the entire training day as written without a single change. If it’s a different gym than I’ve been to before, it’s a blend of both of the previous scenarios, but I’m very excited to see what equipment they have and getting to try some off the exercises out on totally new equipment.
I think the bottom line is, I get through all of it with love and excitement for training! A workout at a different spot is motivating to me because I get to try things on different equipment. I always bring my Mountain Dog band pack everywhere so I know I’ll be able to get creative on anything I may lack. But to me, I’m always excited to get to train, experience different lifting environments and always give it my all.
I realize now that I forgot to update my log yesterday so I’m going to post both yesterday’s and today’s workout together. I won’t overload you with too much extra nonsense
You will not be granted extra credit for pretending to do two workouts in one day. Solid work as always mate.
I honestly believe this is the key to your tremendous success with the iron.
