Maybe I need a special leg day quote like that. Or, like you, maybe I need to just think of someone else who loved leg day. Or maybe – hear me out – I need to think of someone else thinking of someone else who loved leg day.
So I will think of you thinking of Berry and then be amped up to hit legs. It’s leg-day motivation inception!
I love this idea. I like to think that with each level the excitement is greater. Like I have Berry’s excitement and add my own, now you get Berrys, mine and your own. Your next leg day is going to be sooooo goooooooood. Quality
I never understood the dislike people have for leg day. Is it so bad you’re not training the biceps? Nothing excites like progress, but after years of lifting this slows down. The pelvic machine was a new stimulus for me when these became popular a few years ago. I sprint, but maybe need something I haven’t done in a while - sled pushes?
Congratulations to the Shugarts on their 15th anniversary. One fact I know is that the “traditional” gift is crystal, while the “modern” symbol is a watch. I don’t know much else, unless the topic is dinosaurs. Sometimes they like to go ROOOOAR! I am just a simple caveman.
I still get excited to hit anything in the upper body, but maybe it’s because a good pump tricks the brain into thinking you made progress. And visually you did, in about 10 minutes.
Sled pushes are a blast, and they’re super easy on the joints. It doesn’t even feel like work, but when you get to the end of where you’re pushing it, the fatigue will hit you all at once. We call it “prowler flu” at our office.
I used a slight incline for this and worked up to 45-pound dumbbells for 8 reps. The reps feel good, but getting the dumbbells in place is a little scary, and I didn’t want to ask for a spot today. I need to bring liquid chalk because it’s probably a grip issue.
Alternating DB Curl: 3 x 15, 12, 8
Push-Up: 3 x 8
I supersetted these. My chest was pretty toasted by this point, so I hit 8 push-ups per set and just used super strict form.
Tricep pushdown: 3 x failure, drop set on the last set
My gym bud made it back in today and we didn’t have a lot of time, so we did some supersets:
Superset
A1. Lat Pulldown
A2. Overhead Press
B. Dumbbell Bench
Superset
C1. Bicep Curl
C2. Tricep Pushdown
D. Leg Press
This made me double up on a couple exercises that I already hit this week, but I’m okay with it… because who doesn’t love hitting more chest and arms? Plus it’s luteal phase, so just getting in the gym is a win for me.
I also introduced my buddy to a girl who is super cute, amazingly fit and serious about lifting, and most importantly, she’s kind. I think they’d be cute together. They both enjoy comedy, they’re both into tattoos, and they both have noses. See? Lots in common!
