So glad you asked! The one that got my ferritin levels up with zero digestive problems is from a company called Three Arrows. It’s a heme iron, which you can absorb easily without having to worry about it getting blocked by caffeine, chocolate, or any of the other things that are known to prevent iron absorption. It also means that you don’t even need to take vitamin C with it.
I do have a vitamin C supplement, but only use it when sick. Which means, I actually need a recommendation for vit-C because mine might be out of date.
Glassman was always kind to me. I’m actually not going to read that article because it’s too long and I don’t care enough.
Yes, hearing about the sexual harassment stuff is unfortunate but the original reason he was cancelled was over a giant nothing-burger comment he made on Twitter regarding George Floyd. If he had made the same comment today, in an era when people aren’t such crybabies, nothing would’ve happened.
That’s what Chris says he grew up on too. I remember loving certain comedians when I was a kid in the 90s, but preferring their TV shows and movies over their stand-up.
Last night we were sitting in front of the fire, post-Mexican food, couple of glasses beer/wine, and playing jumbo jax, and husband was nodding off. It seemed like a lot of work to actually get up, shut everything down, and go to bed (10 pm maybe, super-duper late, lol), so of course I started scrolling TN. Pushed play on the Carlin and was laughing aloud over it. I don’t know whether husband was smiling at the jokes or my giggling, but even he was entertained (without really opening his eyes).
So I’m going to look for a longer show to watch on the tv. I remember being so surprised that he’s as edgy as he is - my introduction was Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, where he plays kind of a weird old buzzkill.
Dani, I think there may be a “post your funny stuff” thread in OT. I don’t know the name of it, and it’s been a while - couple of years maybe - but someone else might know.
I really like Anthony Jezelnik. He’s not everybodys cup of tea, but he has a super dark cynical humor that I can really appreciate. Dave Chappelle has been at the top of my list my whole adult life. I think he’s really quite brilliant.
I love it when people can take something that is dark and horrible and turn it into something people can laugh about.
Those are really talented guys. I’m a big fan of Iliza Shlesinger and Nate Bargatze; they’re at the top of my list. But Pete Holmes, Anjelah Johnson, John Mulaney, Melanie Bracewell, Aziz Ansari, and John Crist also make me laugh super hard.
If you want a high-end brand, Thorne has a great one with flavonoids, but if you’re looking for an economical choice, Costco’s Kirkland brand is a solid option. With all this winter’s sickness, I’ve just been taking it daily for “insurance”… lol
We’re gonna have to do a comedy night at the McSkyzyks’s cuz a few of those names keep coming up. Nate Bargatze and John Mullaney in particular have been recommended to me a couple times now.
Edit: That lady is funny. She’ll be the late night watching. I don’t want to have to explain that punch line to kiddo in front of his mother.
Seems like all of her specials are amazing. I watched one that she did over 10 years ago and all the jokes held up! But her more recent ones are incredible.
Mulaney is a huge favorite in the Shugart house. But I think this particular special has the best jokes:
