Dani's Rebel Log

Whoa!! That’s so freaking cool. I can’t be the only one in this community who’d love to watch what you do.

:exploding_head:

I’m retired from most competitions. Did 27 years between Marines, Army, Police. But i’ll share some pictures.

Incredible! That is really impressive. You should share your thoughts and insights in some of our firearms threads here. Or start a new one with your own advice/musings. Very cool.

Thank you for that. I really don’t follow that thread much. There are more knowledgeable people than I in there. I just preach the mastering fundamentals before you progress. I just have a lot of real-world experience. Gun fights, fist fights, tactics, etc… ha

Biggest takeaway is PRACTICE. Draw, present, fire a group. Repeat times 1000…Then move to next training block.

That’s me 20+ years into training. I refuse to grow up. :hugs:

Hitting the biceps is always a good time. And pec definition is fit girl cleavage. If you don’t have boobies, just build your chest.

Thanks! I used to avoid tricep work because I thought it made my arms “too big” but now I love it. Big shmig.

How to be Both Impressive and Irritating

There was a singer in our gym today. I admired her at first, but the volume of her headphones must’ve been so loud that she couldn’t hear herself. She was belting it out, yet no real words were formed. It was a lot of passionate wailing with vowel sounds.

Part of me applauds that gumption because it’s so free and so completely opposite of what we usually see in the gym. There’s something precious about people who’ve lost all self awareness… even if it offends half the gym. It’s like the guys from Impractical Jokers. They don’t care what anyone thinks.

My friend Debbie, for instance will carry around her phone with country music blasting and not give a damn that it’s competing with the music on the gym speakers. She bops around from one machine to the next in head to toe (sometimes bedazzled) Trump gear. One can only hope to be that confident at age 75.

So I tend to cheer people on no matter how out-of-the-norm they are while getting some exercise in. But my admiration for today’s gym singer took a turn when she sat at the lat pulldown that was attached to the tricep pulldown I was using. We were at the same cable machine, she was two feet away with her face pointed at me singing (without consonants) at top volume.

If I had been living at my highest potential I would’ve pretended to let her serenade me and just went with it. But I was not. Getting wailed at was distracting. So I put on headphones for the first time during my workout, super-setted, took abbreviated rest periods, and finished up as fast as possible.

Public gyms are a social experiment. I will be nicer next time.

Also, a pro tip for people who will probably never see this log: if you’re able to sing throughout your workout, there’s a chance you’re not working hard enough.

Oof, this resonates! I was also distracted at the gym today doing cardio next to an out-of-shape dude violently exorcising his sweat demons and audibly breathing (OMG I can’t stand hearing people breathe). Like, my magnanimous self would’ve thought, “What is the gym if not for getting in shape? This guy is working his ass off.” But I was not magnanimous, I was grossed out.

Thank you for the validation! I was hoping someone could relate.

There was a three way tug-of-war in my head between acceptance, annoyance, and incredulity. Like, is this actually happening?! I’m so pissed! But also, good for her. It’s fine as long as she’s getting a good workout. But she’s NOT! But I shouldn’t judge. Ok just get this over with.

It’s resistance training for the brain to think charitably when the option to be annoyed is so much easier… and more fun. haha

Good idea. That’ll be my game plan next time. :raised_hands:

If you do, please film it. LOL

Pull up a funny picture on your phone, find a casual position that allows you to point your camera at them, then start laughing.

Either they leave when they get embarrassed, or if they get angry and confront you, then show them what you were looking at to embarass them for making a scene.

FWIW, one pundit rated these the best karaoke duets of all time:

10: Despacito (Fonsi)
9: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (Lauper)
8: You’re The One That I Want (Grease)
7: The Time Of My Life (Medley)
6: Shallow (Lady Gaga)
5: Under Pressure (Queen)
4: Ain’t No Mountain High Enough (Gaye)
3: Endless Love (Ross, Ritchie)
2: Don’t Go Breaking My Heart (Elton)
1: Summer Nights (Grease)

I kind of like singing, but hate listening to crappy singers. My list would look different. I think you might need to be drunk to perform some of these songs optimally. You probably need to be to listen to most people singing them.
