OK, Stu…no one in natural bodybuilding uses any diuretics. NO ONE.

Got it.[/quote]

Never said that, i know enough not to make blanket statements, simply trying to point out to someone else’s remarks about natties using them, that it’s not really the case (I think everyone is smart enough to realize the existence of those who skirt the rules).

You just couldn’t leave it alone though could you? -lol. I forgot that you’ve trained in the same gym as a few NPC competitors so you’re the expert.

The amount of OTC diuretic use to cause catastrophic organ failure in an otherwise heathy individual would be insanely high. Prescription diuretic on the other hand much lower and at completion considering the already possibility of messed up electrolytes…lower still. Stu never said they weren’t taking diuretics…way to reading comprehension.

Anyways any updates on COD?

A good friend of mine who owned and ran the gym, and was a national level competitor died exactly like this in 2004. He hit his head a few times pretty badly on the way down and it was treated as a possible murder for some time due to the head wounds.

Yes cutting the quote down and then he still doesn’t say not one person uses them. He is saying its not surprising that nattys do use them. Reading comprehsion please try it

Reading comprehension failure.

Statement: I did not know that natural competitors used diuretics, that is surprising to me if true.

REPLY: I don’t think it is

That would mean he does not think it is TRUE. That would mean he does not think naturals use diuretics.

Coming at me like I did something wrong for showing this to you makes no sense.

Back to the topic, yes electrolyte imbalances can cause heart failure. Other things like taking too much potassium at one time can do it also.

Come at me bro. Glad you think you are special.

Anyways. Man when I would have to fix K+ in IVs was nerve racking knowing too much would stop their heart.

From another board
" he was using diuretics pretty heavy leading up to the show… He said it was his last show and wanted to go all out… Said he didn’t want to do what it took to gain 20 pounds to be competitive… But yet went to extreme for his conditioning "

If anyone is interested in the diuretic topic (I don’t have much to add to the information concerning Seccarecci’s death), I actually grabbed my phone while running errands and reached out to the former head of the WNBF, now head of another federation, longtime Pro competitor, and all around damn knowledgeable guy concerning bodybuilding (especially natty/tested competitions).

He said that testing for diuretics is standard in the expanded panel being used by WADA-accredited labs. A run of the mill drug test would detect PEDs, with diuretic testing as an available option should a promoter wish to do so.

As I’ve said in other threads, the level to which a federation holds their athletes accountable for banned substances is quite variable. I can rattle off a list of names of competitors who have failed WNBF show tests, and a month later are competing in a different “drug tested” federation. Does that mean that all natties use diuretics, or even (gasp!) some type of anabolics? Nope. It simply means that just like in any sport, some people play by the rules, and others don’t.

S

I’d say his proclamations of wanting to go out with a bang, and it being his last show was rather… prophetic.

Might be too soon. And the following statement will be rather cynical of me, but these guys are in control of their own lives, and it is their decision to do something stupid like pushing it. They do call it “pushing it” for a reason. I can only feel so bad when this type of thing happens. What did people expect to happen?

Most interesting, is what do these young guys expect to happen pumping gram upon gram into their system to “catch up” to pro level quickly. Its like a time bomb, no one knows when its going to go off, but its certainly armed.

LOL

That was funny.

Also completely skipped the post where Stu specifically discussed natural diuretics.

Or it could mean “i dont think it is surprising”

But you can jump to whatever conclusions will help you sleep better tonight.
