Congrats all the way…it takes guts to actually get out there to compete. Even if it against yourself ![]()
Congratulations Dani! I’m so glad the experience was a positive one for you.
Thanks ladies!
I did keep a lot in the tank for the most part. I don’t regret playing it safe! Next time, I hope to challenge myself more though and set some PRs.
Cal - my back did round pretty bad on all of the deadlifts, even on 175 which never happens for me. For some reason, it was hard to keep form with all of those people staring.
And thanks everyone else for the feedback. I am really sore but not as tired as I thought I was going to be.
Woo hoo!! Great job, girlie!! And congrats on your first meet!
You did fantastically. And I agree, singlet looks awesome! lol. Love the socks.
Was rooting for ya on your 3rd bench. Yuss!
Keep killin’ it, Dani! Can’t wait to see what your next meet brings ![]()

Thanks!
And c’mon ladies, my singlet looks ridiculous and I know it lol
I don’t know if I put this in my write up but the commander laughed at how I didn’t pause for the bench. I don’t know what was going through my head but I completely forgot to do it!
we all make those technical mistakes at our first meet - and some keep doing them due to the nerves.
Good job on your first meet
love the mismatched socks. Now you know exactly what to work on for your next attemps.
Thanks nimain. I plan to compete again in May. I’d like to add 100 pounds to my total.
I am so freakin’ sore and tired. I wasn’t expecting to be this sore especially since all of my lifts felt relatively easy. I slept all day yesterday, woke up to eat, and went back to sleep until this morning lol

This is very normal. I am always so mentally exhausted afterwards.
Good for you on already having your next meet and goals picked out.
What fed was it that you competed in?
oh my!! I’m way behind, but you did a meet!! FANTASTIC job !! Happy post meet adrenaline hangover!
Congrats on the first meet. Now you have a total to beat next time!
Great gym that held that meet I’ve ordered stuff from them before
kpsnap - STILL exhausted lol It was a USAPL meet. I’ll probably always stick with them because I don’t feel like buying the cards for different federations.
brute - haha thanks girl!
Kalle - Thanks man. I love Albany Strength and I wish I lived closer so that I could train there more often.

Notes: Felt like a champ pressing today. Everything felt really fast and strong. I think some of those sets are PRs, can’t remember. My bf suggested that I start “treating my shoulders like a dirty hooker and abuse them,” so I focused a lot on assistance and now my arms feel like jello.
awesome first meet. love your avatar. lol @ bony worm.

Now that is something I have never tried. Wow. Hard.

Just a word of warning from personal experience: I did these a while back and they messed my shoulder up for weeks. Perhaps I wasn’t doing them right, or my shoulders are too tight to do them.
Dani I love the enthusiasm in your posts, it makes me even more excited about competing and (almost) tempted to go for the meet in January. Thanks for that!

BTN = Behind the Neck ![]()
Dani, your boyfriend is hilarious! Treat them like a dirty hooker indeed. Ahahahahaha!
dejavued - thanks ![]()
kp - I really liked them! They were definitely hard.
brute - Check out the link below. I call them triceratops cause I’m a doof but I guess they’re technically called ‘lying tricep extension’ by Mark Rippetoe. They are a killer for the triceps! And btn = behind the neck.
cho - I can definitely see something getting tweaked doing these. My bf watched as I was doing them and made sure I didn’t go too low. I also had to play around with how I was unracking it. I set the pins really high on the rack so that I didn’t have to lower it down awkwardly. I’m glad I motivated you. Definitely do the meet! I’m so glad I did.
Pixie - He is hilarious and an awesome training partner/coach. =)

Notes: Squats felt good and my hip was fine. It only really felt uncomfortable when I would lose tension in the hole, other than that, I’m really happy with how it went. I might have slightly strained my right hamstring during the good mornings. We’ll see tomorrow.
I’ve also decided that I’d like to put on some more weight. So far, I’ve eaten a whole box of macaroni and cheese, two cups of beef chili and a scoop of protein in 8oz of whole milk.
Argh I missed your meet! Shoot gorl you KEELT IT DED.
YAYEEEE YOU!
